"Do you have an actual name?" Vince asked, looking at D-47, "Not just a letter and a number, I mean." He rolled his sleeve back over his arm, and glanced at Ericken, who was watching the process the machine went through. Ericken yelped when the needle plunged into his arm, and would have torn his arm away if he wasn't gripping the bar.
"I hate needles," murmured Ericken pitifully.

D-47 blankly looks to the right in thought. The sample is taken and the robotic arm places pressure after removing the needle. It sprays on the liquid bandage and beeps. “You’re done.” he says calmly then removes and marks the vial. He hands the vials to Goggles, “Hey, take these to the ..... scanner.” he says, pausing to find a fitting word. Goggles nods and runs off to find the scanner. D-47 looks back to Vince to answer his question. “I can not recall being called anything else. From my first memories up until now I’ve only been called D-47. Discounting common calls of course.” he says calmly.

Ericken retracted his arm and stepped a foot away from the machine in one swift motion. The color was beginning to return to his face.
"But..." Vince shoook his head. "Does everybody here just have a letter and a number? That isn't much of an identity."

D-47 shakes his head, “Oh no, it’s nothing like that.” he says calmly. “People here have names just like everyone else.” After a moment he adds, “... Well besides the different dialects and such.”

Vince would have continued the conversation it Ericken hadn't butted in.
"So can we please go now?" Ericken asked, whining.

D-47 looks to Ericken, “Yes, please follow me. There are some things you need, also if you want a tour, now seems to be a good time. Many of the projects are open for view or are in testing it would seem. If not that is fine.” He turns and walks off in the direction Goggles had run in. “If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask. I’ll answer with my best capability.”

Ericken groaned, as if saying he just wanted to lie down and sleep. After a sharp nudge from Vince, the two followed D-47's lead.

D-47 glances back for a quick second. “Ericken, because of your current condition I want you taking medication starting today. Vince, you should start the regimen tomorrow.” he says calmly. Shortly after saying this he stops in front of a cabinet that looks no different from dozens of others. Opening it shows a few dozen small white boxes. He takes four of them out and hands two to each of them before shutting the cabinet and opening another one five cabinets down the row. Slightly larger boxes fill the cabinet, he takes out two and hands one to each of them. There is a counter if they chose to set the items down. “This is the medication that you should carry with you at all times, and these,” He pulls a drawer open and takes two wrist watches out and sets them on the counter. “Are risk watches, there is an alarm that tells timed doses, and a warning alarm that suggests when to take un-timed doses at times of high stress and things such as that.” After a moment he says, “For today you each just have a ... starters kit. Each kit includes one inhaler, two canisters of medication, and one risk watch.”

"I hate medicine even more than doctors..." Ericken examined the various items they had been handed, shaking one of the boxes and listening to the medicine rattle inside. Vince put on one watch, and threw the other at his partner. Ericken caught it, and slipped it on.
"Essentially, just take the medicine whenever it beeps?" Vince asked, making sure he had heard correctly. Ericken was already unboxing everything and stuffing it in his pockets.

“Yes, when you take the first dose push the little red button on the side and hold it for five seconds, it should beep. That will set the watch for future doses. Also be sure that canister is completely attached to the inhaler, it will lose pressure otherwise. Each dose is two sprays.” he says calmly, then turns to another cabinet. “Oh one more thing,” he takes two clear bottles of small white pills out of the cabinet and hands a bottle to each of them. “Vitamin D3. Epocheia, especially Eon, gets very little sunlight. Take one or two every other day.”

"More medicine?" Ericken groaned, taking the vitamins. He pocketed this bottle as well, and went back to examining his watch.
"Is this everything we'll need?" Vince asked. He wasn't fond of carrying too many things around.

“No, that is all you require. You do not need to carry the D3 with you.” he says calmly. He looks off to the side at seemingly nothing for several seconds. This may be a time where his lack of blinking is noticed. Suddenly he turns around and looks back the path they have been following. After a long pause of silence and not reacting to his surroundings he calmly says, “The one you brought here is causing issue.”

While Ericken was fumbling with his many new items, Vince was interested in the demeanor of D-47. The scientist never blinked, and he always seemed so distracted.
"How do you know... nevermind." Vince shook his head, as if admitting he would never understand scientist types. "Exactly what is it doing?"

He is silent for a moment before blankly replying, “...Maiming one of our scientists.” He tilts his head slightly to the left, “Greatly maiming it would seem.”

Vince looked taken aback. "Where's this happening?" he asked, his tone more of a demand than a question. Ericken looked up from his bottles to see Vince ready to bolt. He put the various containers back in his pockets, and looked to D-47.
