"Well, I don't know about your mom's side of the family, but Grandpa Aaron isn't really someone people like your family want anything to do with; I can totally understand why your dad doesn't want you to visit my house. But in return for dealing with his nasty side I get to essentially do whatever I want. With a couple exceptions. Safety stuff."
