A Team of Heroes

[Raven]

"What does she do?" Wulf asked.

[Gifted]

"Technomancy." Banion responded.

[Raven]

"What does that mean?" Wulf asked, confused.

[Gifted]

"Tehnomancy is a term derived from a portmanteau of technology combined with the Greek suffix -mancy, which means divination. Colloquially, technomancy is the ability to manipulate electronic devices."

[Raven]

Wulf didn't seem to follow much of the first sentence at all, but he nodded. "So in what way?"

[Gifted]

"She sees through cameras, can navigate computers without touching them, break lightbulbs, overload circuits. Anything a piece of technology was intended to do, she can do without having any access. We mostly use her to watch the area and give us positions on our enemies. You would be surprised how many cameras there are in any given place in a northern country."

[Raven]

"That's amazing," Wulf said. "How does she communicate what she sees?"

[Gifted]

"I know French. She generally stays alongside me while the rest of the team positions itself. I relay her information to the rest of you over our communication network."

[Raven]

"That makes sense. What about the rest of you?"

[Gifted]

Banion was more than happy to introduce everyone. "Well, we're quite the international group. This is our Brazilian wonder Lucas Carvalho, he's been with us for ten years. We call him Inferno, I'm sure you can guess why."
Lucas grinned and lit his hand on fire. He put the fire out, stuck out his hand for Wulf to hake and nearly shook Wulf's hand off. "Heya."
"Then we have Anam Naeem, we picked him up ten years ago as well. He's our ray of sunshine from Pakistan."
"It's nice to meet you." Anam greeted politely.
"Then there are the twins, Valeriya and Tamara Sokolova. They are actually moderately famous in Russia. We call them life and death, but their powers are actually much closer to vitality," He indicated Valeriya, "And decay." He pointed to Tamara. "Tamara can age or decay materials and organisms quickly, while Valeriya specializes in repair. We've had the pleasure of their presence for six years."
"Hope you're as good as they say. This isn't exactly how we usually recruit." Valeriya said, rolling her eyes. Tamara said nothing.
"Of course, we have our resident American, Sasha White. Her ability is telekinetic. That means she can move objects with her mental power alone." He added.
"Hi." Sasha said shyly. "I mean... thanks for your your help back there." She was holding her side where she was bleeding from the bullet she'd taken."
"Sasha has been with us for four years. Finally, our newest recruit other than yourself is from China. His name is Jae Kim. He's been with us only two months." He indicated the Chinese teenager who had been with Sasha at the attack. "He seems to be able to accumulate very useful plasma-energy projectiles."
"Hi." Jae waved.

[Raven]

Wulf greeted everyone as they were introduced, but returned his gaze to Banion when he finished. "And you? What's your ability?"

[Gifted]

"Ah, myself." With a wave of his hand, he created a perfect, frosted over sculpted rose with a perfectly clear stem. "I create ad control ice." He held the sculpture in his hand, and despite his body heat the stem did not melt. He turned around and passed the sculpture to Angélique. "For you, my lady."
Angelique blushed deeply and giggled slightly, taking the flower while Valeriya glared daggers at her.

[Raven]

Wulf raised an eyebrow. "You make an impressive group," he said, then he glanced at Valeriya. "How do you normally do recruitment?"

[Gifted]

"Well, we're actually a pretty famous group." Valeriya answered. "Or at least we were. And lots of people still remember us, y'know. Anyway, we get requests to join from all over the world."
"I had to fill out a lot of forms." Jae said. "Who I was, what I could do, my education and upbringing and a bunch of personal questions. I mean, I've wanted to be on the team since I was a little kid, so I didn't mind, but it's a lot of forms."
"Yeah, you think it was a hassle filling them out, Jae? Try sifting through them." Lucas elbowed Jae in the ribs playfully.
"Banion generally recruits three or four of us to go through the paperwork whenever a new team member needs to be selected." Sasha chimed in. "I like helping him with it."

[Raven]

"Well, I'm sorry I jumped the line," Wulf said. "But I hope I'll be able to help. And I'll fill out those forms if you want." He grinned.
