"I am better at avoiding injury than most, but with my lifestyle I developed a fairly high pain tolerance too. It's good to be able to keep going when most people couldn't.. I'm glad you'll be okay," Wulf smiled.

"Thank you." Sasha smiled. "I mean you can't very well be on the team without a high pain tolerance. You should hear about some of the stuff the old team got into. There was this hostage situation I think fifteen years ago now, huge team of like four dozen dudes, took an entire UN meeting hostage. The League swoops in, four of them get injured, but they don't lose a single diplomat." She grinned. "It's one of their most famous feats."

Not only is Banion the only surviving member, nobody on the current team, as in right here right now, had even met them except Angélique. It's. gone. I'm sick of listening to her spew a bunch of nonsense that doesn't matter anymore."
Sasha deflated into her seat, turning pink.
"Why you gotta crush people's joy, Valeriya?" Lucas asked offhandedly. He gt up with his empty plate and went to the kitchen to wash it off.
Sasha didn't speak after that, just quietly picking at her food.
