The Reckoning

"What? There's no way we can take on Crucifix, Joan!" Ryan said. "Get out of there!"
A wall of glass appeared, and the bullets hit it one after another. The first cracked it, and the second made it shatter, but the bullet went wide and the glass curved around her. She drew a gun of her own, firing at Joan. She wasn't nearly as good as Joan was, but Joan and Ryan had taught her a lot. The gun was actually one Joan had given her.

Joan was able to take cover from the return fire behind the wall she was standing behind. “What do you think I'm trying to do?!" She snapped at Ryan. “Sit on my ass?!" She fired a couple more shots towards Crucifix, returned behind the wall and began to run towards the road from which Flash had come.

[Raven]

She ran straight into a wall of glass which quickly became a box around her.

[Gifted]

Anxious, Joan pulled her gun and shot twice to take out the glass wall. Then she chanced a look over her shoulder to see if she was being pursued.

[Raven]

Crucifix was approaching quickly, and the rest of the box shattered, spraying glass everywhere.

Joan put up her arm to protect her face, feeling small cuts all over her body as she backed away. When most of the assault was over she turned and fled down the road, rounding a corner.
And stopped dead. She'd never outrun Crucifix. The Epic would find her. The only way out of this was a bullet in Crucifixs heart.
That wouldn't end her, unfortunately; Crucifix had the power of reincarnation, so killing her without her weakness present meant that she would be back as strong as ever soon enough. Buthe it took her a little bit of time to reincarnate, and Joan could use that time to get away from here and back to the base. The body Crucifix used was as fragile as any normal person, so one or two well placed hits would do it. Joan pressed up against the corner. Shoot Crucifix in the back as she rounded the corner and take off once she was sure the epic was dead for a bit. Then cuss out Ryan for not sending anyone as backup when she'd sparking asked for backup.

Crucifix rounded the corner at a run, her gun drawn, her eyes narrowed, but she didn't realize Joan had hidden, and didn't check as she ran.

[Gifted]

Joan stepped swiftly out, pointed her gun at Crucifix's back, and fired two shots.

[Raven]

Cracks of light appeared across crucifix's back as though she was cracked glass, but she turned in shock and pain, raising her gun to fire at Joan, though the shot went wide.

She was still standing? Joan was expecting her to at least fall over, even if those hits weren't fatal! Holy hell, how did this woman do that?
Joan wasn't much of a fan of close quarters combat but she needed a surefire shot to the head to take this woman out. Ugh, if she had the kinector this wouldn't be a problem.
She rushed the taller woman, firing shots at her knees to get Crucifix on the ground.

[Raven]

Katrina went to the ground, and glass exploded around them, but it wasn't a targeted attack.

[Gifted]

Joan wasn't affected and she approached Crucifix's fallen form. "Well as you've seen me." She kicked the Epic onto her front. "It's only fair I get a little intel too, huh?" She reached down. "What do you look like under that mask?" She reached to Katrina's face and pulled the mask upwards.
And nearly dropped her gun in shock.
As it was she gasped and stepped back. Those familiar eyes... that face...
Crucifix could reincarnate. Crucifix could reincarnate. That time when they'd left her, when they'd saw her die... The one member of the team whose life Joan couldn't save, and her face was staring back into Joan's eyes.
Crucifix, a brand new epic, could reincarnate.
"K-Katrina...?"

[Raven]

Katrina sneered. "You think you're so clever, but none of you figured this one out?" Her leg was slowly healing, and she sat up.

[Gifted]

"Not another one..." She whispered, taking another step back.

[Raven]

"So are you going to tell that idiot? Do you think he'll be able to keep going?" Katrina asked. She knew she couldn't beat them - she was a high epic, but she could still be taken out. The next best option was to discourage looking for her weakness.
