Persecuted and Over-Powered

"Well the way the cops were flooding in I'd be surprised if you made it out with one." Flare answered. "I now what was happening there, now. I've figured it all out. I can't let myself be used that way again. I'm stable now, I'm a normal human being again, I can't-" Her voice broke. Longing for Garnet was warring with a deep seated fear of Scarlett taking away everything that made her good again.

[Raven]

"I used to call myself Sapphire, when I thought no one else would hear."

[Gifted]

That was true... She remembered that, when they were small. Was this... could this really be Garnet? "I've been looking for you for years," She admitted. "I've missed you..."

[Raven]

"I missed you so much, Flare." Garnet didn't see the point in admitting that in the last several years, she'd assumed Flare was dead.

[Gifted]

Was Scarlett toying with her emotions? Or was this really the sister she'd been waiting for? Her heart was swelling with hope - this could be the real deal - but there was no way to trust her emotions when someone like Scarlett was around... was there?
But she couldn't turn and walk away on Garnet. She tried, but the more she looked at her sister the more she believed her. If this was mind control, she noted, she'd never been able to beat Scarlett anyway and she was doomed from the moment they laid eyes on one another. Because now there was no way she could walk out on Garnet.
She ran across the lake, towards the only sister who mattered. She hugged Garnet tightly. "Garnet, I can’t believe I get to see you again! I'm sorry, for everything that happened when I was little. I must have scared you so much."

Garnet hugged her tightly. "It's okay. I know you didn't mean to, it was Scarlett. It's okay."

[Gifted]

She smiled. "After the police raided our house I hid in a broom closet and ran out the door when they were distracted. Some nice lady found me crying and turned me in a couple hours later when the guns were put away. I ended up with five years in a juvenile detention center, got out in two years on good behavior, and was set up with an amazing normal foster family. I only left them about six months ago because I didn't want to put them in danger. "

[Raven]

"I ran," Garnet admitted. "I was so scared they wouldn't believe me, especially because of Scarlett..." They'd found her later, of course, but she'd used her power to make them let her go free.

[Gifted]

"Definitely the right decision. I'm just glad we both made it out alive. It took me a few years to get rid of Scarletts influence, but I'm normal now. Mostly. Promise."

[Raven]

"I believe you, Flare." She smiled. "You've always been my sweet baby sister. I like your island."

[Gifted]

"Thanks! It's my alarm system, so I don't get ambushed while I'm sleeping." She told her sister gleefully.

[Raven]

"That's pretty brilliant," Garnet encouraged. "And hey, it obviously works." She grinned.

[Gifted]

"Thanks. You should come sleep on my island with me at night from now on." Flare told her. "I'm sure it's big enough for two. We can travel together!"

[Raven]

Garnet squeezed Flare again. "I would like that, Flare..." She had missed the little girl so much. Her sweet sister.

[Gifted]

Flare held her back tightly and then let go. "So what have you been doing the last few years?" She asked excitedly. She wanted to hear everything. ostly she wanted to hear her sister talk more. She was so glad to have her back.
