The poochyena was caught before the beedrill could attack, and when the battle was over it seemed to sag in the air as it flew back over. Erica smiled at him. "Hey, you did good. Thanks for hanging in there for me." She told her friend, stroking the side of his face. He buzzed a little louder, and shereturned him to his pokeball. She didn't even seemed concerned about the fact she nearly killed the poochyena.

Amy huffed. "Let's get them healed." She returned spinarak and cradled the poochyena's ball. She couldn't believe how little this girl cared.

Erica put up with her attitude until about halfway there. "Did you know that for a trainer of sufficient determination, a pokemon can survive into negative hit points without fainting?" She said coldly.

"What has that got to do with anything?" Amy asked, but she did seem intrigued.

"Spike's hit points were at negative two." She snapped. "I had no proof trying to catch that tepig was going to work, and getting hit by both of those pokemon would have killed him. So yes, I'm willing to kill another pokemon out of desperation to save my only friends life. You got a problem with that?"

"You could have returned him," Amy pointed out.

"And then how were we supposed to get back to town with an angry poochyena and possibly tepig blocking our path? You said it was dark type. Those aren't exactly known for backing down from slights when they've got the upper hand."

"I usually climb a tree," Amy answered. "And you could have just knocked it out."

"I went for overkill because that way I would be sure it would be enough. If a hit landed badly and didn't knock it out, then again, my pokemons life is at risk, so I'm going to maximize my chance of success."

Amy shrugged. "It doesn't really matter. I caught her, she's safe and she's not going to hurt Spike, so everything is fine.

"You're right. It doesn't matter. I just don't appreciate being looked at like I don't care about pokemon." Erica went into the pokemon center and put her two pokemon on the table.

Amy sighed, feeling awkward, then asked, "So, are you going to name the Tepig?" She asked as she put her Pokemon down as well.

"Yeah, of course. I'll probably name him Blaze." Erica answered, smiling no that they were on another topic.

Erica sighed. "What it sounds like. I used to have one. Now I don't."
