After school let out, Stephanie found Kailen. "You were right." She said with a grin. "School must be the easiest thing ever for you now."
As the clock ticked through the final minutes of school, a twelve year old blonde girl fidgeted in her seat, her eyes darting to the clock on the wall every few seconds. Those seconds she wasn't looking at the clock she stared down at her paper, supposed to be taking notes but instead doodling little suns on the corner of her notebook. She completely ignored her teacher droning on about the themes of some book she couldn't be bothered to remember the name of, even though she'd been studying it for a solid month. Her pink glossed lips parted slightly and her eyes half closed in quiet concentration, and as she finished the last line of her last sun they all began to glow faintly, each with a different coloured light. She smiled. In all her life, she'd never drawn anything so pretty.
The harsh sound of the bell broke her concentration and as she was jerked out of her trance the lights on the paper instantly went out. She crumpled up her paper and tossed it on the way out the door as she went to her locker to get her things.
"Hey Lucy, you wanna hang out today? It's my turn to pay." One of her friends appeared beside her lockers and leaned against the one next to her with a mischievous grin.
Lucy smiled an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I can't today. I have church after school."
"Church on a Friday?" Her friend snorted. "Who goes to church on a Friday?"
"I do." Lucy replied, swinging her backpack over her shoulder. "It's a special occasion. Anyway, I'm just going to pay my respects." She hied her bag over her shoulder, wrinkling her dark green shirt sleeve, and walked off. She was dressed appropriately for church for a twelve year old girl, her green shirt's V-neck not cut too low and her black pants not too wrinkled. She didn't wear jewelry, not since she broke her favourite necklace while playing with her friends. Or melted it trying to use the gemstone like a magnifying glass to burn things, depending on who you asked.
Lucy walked into the church only to find the place deserted. She knew the mass was over, but she'd still expected some people. With a sigh she went to pay her respects and then sat in a pew waiting for her parents or brother to come pick her up, trying to amuse herself. Of course, nothing she did out of boredom anymore was just a mere twelve year old kid trying to amuse herself.
It was around quarter to four when Matt came out of his room and sighed to Kenny. "Do you think we should go clean up the church now?"
