The Elements

[Raven]

"Wait, what?" the original asked. The newer version had already had this conversation, and sat back to let it play out.

[Gifted]

"Well not controlling time, nothing that cool." Stephanie said. "But lately... it sounds impossible, I never mentioned it because I thought you'd laugh at me, but... wind just... does what I tell it to."

[Raven]

"Woah, really? Wind? That's cool. I wonder what happened. Do you think there's anyone else?"

[Gifted]

"I thought I was the only one but if there's two of us, there must be more, mustn't there?" Stephanie said. "I wonder how we could find out..."

[Raven]

"I don't know," the newer one cut in. "He's going to disappear now." Kailen sighed and stuck his tongue out at the future version, then disappeared. The remaining boy grinned. "It's like a movie. We've got super powers."

[Gifted]

Stephanie grinned. "I know, right. Come here, I want to showyou a tick I've been working on." She headed towards the school. After checking to make sure they were alone she went to a particularly large tree of to the side of the school where nobody goes and climbed into it. "I've been working on this since I figured out what I could do." She told him. "I'm still not great a it yet, but watch."

[Raven]

Kailen looked up at her curiously. "Alright, show me."

[Gifted]

She climbed higher and higher, further up than most kids ever bothered to go if they climbed the tree at all. When she was as high in the tree as she would be standing on Kailen's roof, she stopped and crouched motionless on the branch.
A fiercely strong wind swept through the street, blowing across their hair and coats, shaking the tree branches as it went by. It blew Stephanie's hair back around her face and normally she would be nervous so high up on a creaking and moving object with nothing to break her fall, but she remained stoic and unblinking as the wind speed grew and grew "Add an updraft..." She murmured to herself. Then all at once she leaped off the high branch, soaring through the air, poised to land on her feet except she was far too high...
And then she stopped. Shaking, with her eyes narrowed in concentration and her teeth clenched, she nevertheless stopped and hovered in mid air, the wind and her own willpower holding her up a foot above the ground with her arms spread out.

[Raven]

"Woah! That's fucking awesome, Steph!" Kailen cried, grinning.

[Gifted]

It proved to be too much for her to hold it and she let out a gasp and fell the rest of the way to the ground. She was breathing like she'd just run a mile, but she was grinning despite it. I'm still working on it." She said between breaths. "But it's cool, eh? I can fly! Sort of."

[Raven]

"Heck yeah! We can make a super hero team! The Avengers - or X-Men maybe!" Kailen was grinning just as widely as Stephanie.

[Gifted]

"Yeah. Yeah, sounds great. Only if I get to be Mystique." Stephanie laughed. "Since I'm a master of disguise."

[Raven]

"Right, Jennifer," Kailen said, rolling his eyes and grinning. "Mystique is a bad guy. You better not betray me."

[Gifted]

"Yes but haven't you ever seen First Class? Mystique is like Charles' bestie right up until the end of the movie and when she does switch sides, she asked Charles' permission first. Plus I totally look like her normal-person disguise." Stephanie said, even though she didn't, really.

[Raven]

"Jenifer Lawrence does it better," Kailen teased. "You don't get permission. But hey, does that make me Professor X?"
