"A plant? Where?" Matt ran out to see Nikolai chasing a plant down the hall. The two of them chased a fleeing Stephanie down the hall, and Matt took her out with a few well-placed shots from his gun. "Alright, next game. Good job, Nocturnal." He said, but he wasn't cheering or celebrating.

Pain and anger filled Matt's chest. "You know funny you should say that. You say that over and over again but never once over the last month have you actually asked me what's wrong." Matt snapped.

There was a short pause, and Nikolai left the suddenly awkward chat. "I'm sorry," Kailen said, surprised. "What happened? He hadn't even realized that Matt had been grumpy for a whole month, since it had been so much longer for him.

Matt sighed. "It's okay, you couldn't have known, just... I need to be alone for awhile. talk to you guys later." He logged off and sat there staring at a black screen for a long time.

Kailen felt terrible, and suddenly he was no longer there. He gave himself four hours to clear his mind, walking around town and getting himself something to eat. Five seconds after he left, Kailen climbed back through the window into his room.

Well. Stephanie probably wouldn't freak out too badly. He sighed. "Let's get out of here and I'll explain." He should have paused time while he climbed up.

"Alright.." She quit the game so Nikolai couldn't listen in, put the controllers away and followed Kailen towards the window.

Kailen climbed back outside, hoping that even if she overreacted, as long as they were away from the house, he could calm her down before anything happened. He waited for her to catch up before starting down the road.
