"I hope none of the rest of them are that rude," Caleb muttered.
Lily frowned at him but said nothing, quickly going to sit down.

Meanwhile, Frederick was asking Violet some questions. "Has Kenny been helping you at all?" he asked.
Violet shrugged. "I'm sure he'll try."

"She's just here for the food." Rakel smirked. As though she wasn't also, in fact, just here for the food.

"What do you expect, I caught her trying to murder someone." Lauren rolled her eyes. "I can't believe we're expected to share the same house with her. Chase, you're not eating your vegetables."

[Raven]

"What?" Caleb asked, looking alarmed with a glance at Lucy.
"Lauren," Kenny said firmly.

Frederick nodded. "Ah," he said, but he looked a little concerned.

Lucy's eyes had widened at Lauren's comment and she glanced at Caleb anxiously.
"What, you want me to lie?" Lauren demanded. "I did. I caught her and a friend of hers trying to shoot a teenage boy on Ellowbrook." Lauren told them. "I just stole their weapons to get rid of them."

"I want you to stop spreading rumors in my house," Kenny said. "Rakel is your teammate, and you don't have to like each other, but you do have to treat each other with respect, and that includes not talking about the other person's situation when you don't understand it."

[Gifted]

"It's not rumours if it's true. I saw it with my own two eyes! What I'm supposed to just keep quiet about little kids like Chase and Lucy being forced to share a house with someone I know is a murderer without them knowing it?"

[Raven]

Kenny's tone was clipped as he responded, "If Rakel were dangerous, I wouldn't let her in the house with Matt. There is no reason for anyone to need to know anything about Rakel that she doesn't want them to, and telling things without context that only she can provide is gossiping."

[Gifted]

"And you think you have the right to make that choice for everyone? To just say it's ok for them to have to rub shoulders with a murderer without the slightest bit of preparation or information? That's not gossipping, that's giving fair warning to people interested in protecting themselves and their loved ones! I can't believe you're brushing off her trying to kill somebody!"

[Raven]

Kenny was quiet for a brief moment, taking a deep breath, then he said, "Get out."

Shock and betrayal flashed across Lauren's face. That was it? She was just going to be thrown out by her mentor over a murderer? She struggled to get her expression back to neutral. No, she wasn't going to let him see how much that hurt her. That's what he wanted. If he was going to do that to her, he didn't deserve to see the tears she shed over it. She struggled to maintain a level voice. "Fine. Shows me what kind of man you are." She said coolly. "Come on Chase, we're leaving."
"But-"
"We're leaving!"
Chase got to his feet, disappointed they wouldn't get any of the pie Lauren had been talking up so much. Lauren took his hand, and walked out, shutting the door of the didning room behind her and beginning to make her way to the front door. Rick, who'd been waiting for the table to clear a bit, looked up. "Hey, Lauren, what's the-" He was inturrupted by the front door slamming as she went outside.

The kids fell very quiet and they all looked at Kenny, but Kenny climbed the stairs and shut himself in his room.

Frederick's eyes widened in concern and he stood up. "I'll be back," he assured Rakel, and hurried outside after Lauren. "Lauren?" he called, the loudest he'd ever heard her speak and the first time she'd ever seen him walk down the street. He glanced either way down the road as though being outside made him nervous.

Lucy looked up at Caleb. "Is she okay?" She asked, concerned.
Josh was frozen in shock. He apparently didn't do well with conflict.
Rick sighed. It looked like he would have to handle the situation without even knowing what the bloody situation was. LAuren and Fredrick were gone, so he flashed a smile to Rakel and Violet. "I'll be right back, okay?" He let himself into the dining room to check on the others.

He found Chase standing alone on the sidewalk. "Lauren saw a weird guy spying on us and ran off." He said grumpily.

"What?" Frederick asked, seeming even more concerned but trying to mask it for Chase's sake.

"I think so," Caleb said, but he didn't look convinced. Lily seemed just as worried about it as Josh, while Noah looked uncomfortable.

Lucy pondered that for a moment then indicated up the stairs. "Is he okay?"
"Don't worry about either of them." Rick assured them. "Kenny's been through way bigger issues than this. Once they make up you'll see both of them around again, no problem."

Chase nodded. "She was crying, and then she saw this weird guy staring at the house. Looked like a caveman. She yelled at him, he ran off, she told me to stay here and ran after him."

"Which direction?" Frederick asked.
