"God bless," I said, frowning

"Is that not standard to thank someone and wish them well? God bless you?"

"Not where I'm from," I answered. "There are lots of religious people, but they trend to leave that out."

"Well, it's been standard for the last ten years, ever since God came down from heaven. Everyone says it, even to people who'd more likely be executed if they ever met one of gods servants, like me."

"God came down? And he executes people," I said, dumbstruck

"She. Gods a she." Danielle corrected.

"Whatever. How do you know she's God?" I inquired.

"She's like, omnipotent or something. I've been on the run for quite awhile, so I don't really understand it. All I know is that if God decides she doesn't like you, she sends her men and woman after you. Most of them merely take you to her palace and she decides your fate there, but there's at least one boy who is God's personal assassin."

That boy wasn't delusional. "Isn't God supposed to live everyone?" I asked. Sure, Ruby was a bad person, but still. I didn't want god playing God. Did that mean I had a God complex?

Danielle shrugged. "I just doubt I'm the sort who God's soldiers would walk past." She turned and went up to an old, clearly-abandoned house. "Here is where I'm staying right now." She opened the door and just pushed the food off into the corner.

"Why do you say that?" The resigned dispair wasn't something I'd find in any of my characters, though it did seem in character for Danielle.

"I'm not a very good person." Danielle sighed.

"Well thank you, that's very kind. But I'm not, really. I've done some awful things."
Meanwhile, the very 'God' Danielle spoke of sat in a throne room of blue and gold, in a palace made specifically for her. She stared don at a tablet device which was playing video footage of a pair of teens talking. "Zoey and Zane!" She grinned happily as she saw the pair. "I want them." She said, but as she continued to watch them Zane flipped out and shouted at Zoey, storming off. Gods eyes grew sad. She knew exactly what had just happened "Too early in their timeline. I can't disturb them yet." I scrolled through a few more cameras of people I knew, and then shut off the tablet with a sigh. No one new yet. And no sign of this so-called devil either. Just the Black Rose being her usual problem self. I stood up from my throne. Maybe I could go play some music or something, I was bored. Ever since I was told there was a devil out to get me the gifteds around me had insisted on me staying in a palace whenever I didn't have a specific thing that only I could do. I understood, but it got so tedious some days. Even with all my friends. I smiled as I thought of one boy in particular. It'd been nothing short of a miracle I'd found him, I'd caught up to him in time. Almost nine years ago it was, when I first met the boy who was supposed to be evil, the untouchable, who despite all odds, I'd managed to keep good...
I was still trying to pull everything together at the time, and I didn't have all that many allies. At that precise moment I'd been on my own, a phone to y ear and sitting on hold with the government offices, when a shootout broke out on the street. Some agent and a Gifted were going at it with no care of who got caught in the crossfire. "Hey, watch it!" I tried to flee, but a wayward bullet hit me in the leg. I'd never imagined it could be so painful. I stumbled down the street, fighting for each step, until two blocks away I collapsed on the sidewalk. My leg felt like fire. Fuck, how did Xander handle this? I needed to find a healer, or a hospital, or I'd bleed out - there are a lot of major arteries in the upper leg. But I had no idea where I was....

Hesitantly, the ten year old boy came up to her. "Do you need help?" He asked, softly. His dark eyes weren't sure of the woman, but all the same, he wasn't going to just leave her. His breathing was shallow, due to pain in his chest. He edged closer to her leg, and looked a little nervous when he got in range for her to be able to hit him. His eyes were on her face at the moment, not entirely trusting her.
