Herbology

[Gifted]

Professor Candise straightened up the greenhouse and moved the Venomous Tentacula that had been brought here to eat back to Greenhouse Three where it belonged. She had a first year class coming to Greenhouse One, and it wouldn't do to have any particularly dangerous plants in here when they did. She straightened her jacket and waited impatiently for the first years to arrive.

[Raven]

Adam filed in, standing in the row along the plants. He got the feeling that the back wouldn't always be farthest from the professor, so he didn't much care where he stood. Plants. Who cared about plants anyway?

[Gifted]

Tanner was really excited. His schedule said this class would be with the Gryffindors, so he might actually share a class with his brother! He ran in and stood where he thought Wesley would be able to see him when he came.

[Raven]

"Hey," Adam greeted. "Nice to see you again."

[Gifted]

"Oh hey." Tanner replied. "Have you seen my brother?"

[Raven]

"He'll be on his way, I'm sure. He left charms before me."

[Gifted]

Just then there was a yell from outside. "Wesley!" Taer cried worriedly. Professor Candise growled.
"Idiot boy must've gone into the wrong greenhouse... everyone stay right. Here. Leave this greenhouse and I'll have you expelled from Hogwarts before you can say 'Quidditch." She ran out to go free the stupid kid from Tentacula snares or whatever else he'd gotten into.

[Raven]

"Sometimes I think this school must have it out for the students," Adam muttered

[Gifted]

"Oh I hope Wes is okay. That sure sounded like him." Tanner fretted.

[Raven]

"Yeah, he's still not here, but I'm sure he'll be okay. After all, we've got magic healing too."

[Gifted]

"Yeah I guess that's true." Tanner smiled sheepishly.
Just then the teacher dragged a scarred and bleeding Wesley back into the tent by his arm. "It clearly says Greenhouse one, you little brat, that means you come here." She shoved him uncaringly at Tanner and tanner caught his brother as he stumbled.
"It was an accident!" Wesley cried.
"Wesley, are you okay?" Tanner asked worriedly.
"Yeah... I'm fine. plants just got to me." Wesley assured him, though he was breathing hard.

[Raven]

"The plants got you?" Adam echoed

[Gifted]

"Yeah, they just kinda grabbed me outta nowhere. Hurt like hell."
"Might be Devil's Snare vine." Tanner said. "Or perhaps Venomous Tentacula. Or maybe-"
"Nerd." Wesley cut him off, shoving him playfully.
"Hey!" Tanner laughed.

[Raven]

"There are that many plants that can grab and hurt you?" Adam questioned, eyes wide

[Gifted]

"Oh sure, plenty. When in that sort of predicament, you just have to remember-"
"Yes?" The Herbology teacher snapped suddenly. "Since you insist on talking during my class, let's hear what you have to say"
Tanner blushed red. "Oh... I-I'm sorry. I was just going to say... Venomous Tentacula will respond to physical force but if it's Devils Snare that only aggravates it, and you need a light and heat source to deal with that..."
"Hmph. Well, despite your rudeness you seem to be quite knowledgable with plants, so take five points to Hufflepuff. Don't inturrupt my class again, or I'll have to reconsider."
Wesley was shocked. "You really are a nerd!" He hissed.
"Well, I just won five points for my house. So shut up." Tanner whispered back with a grin, and then fell quiet.
