Escape
Vladimir was running. He knew that he could never look back. He always failed that. He always looked back, and always tripped, always fell, and was always caught. He began to panic. Nicholas had threatened that his last failed escape was the last time he’d be treated mercifully. He heard running. He turned his head.

White Knights, Black Nights
She’s running, fast as she can, feeling her dripping sweat hit the floor, making it slicker and slicker under her feet. She tries her hardest not to trip. She mustn’t trip. They only need a moment to grab her, to drag her back to her prison. She can’t go back. She has to get away. Get away from them, get away from him. She memorized the turns. Left, left, right, last door on the right, down the stairs, left, more stairs, and out. Out into the fading sunlight, quickly, quickly! If she doesn’t get out before the nightfall, it won’t matter. The darkness is his ally. It hides him, it tells him how to find her. Quickly, out the door. Into the field, faster, faster. She laughs, she’s out. She’s free. Finally. Now, just find To-
Bang.
Crash.
Struggle.
Sleep.
She regains consciousness as they fix up her little white jacket, positioning her so that she can see out her window, at the last light being killed by the cruel, traitorous night. She screams, but the pleas fall on deaf ears. He materializes out of the shadows, grinning and caressing her cheek with the tenderness of a lover.
“Oh, dear girl, don’t you realize? Haven't they told you time and time again I don't exist? Now they're never going to let you out, and I'm still going to have my way with you - in this lonely, soundproof, white room...”
