"That's rather kind of you," Professor Binns spoke "Very well. Ten points from Ms.Wilkins for interrupting and forty points from Mr. Clerk for wasting time and forgotten supplies." Professor Binns then proceeded with his lecture on Bathilda and her research methods.

Lynn glared. "Hypocrite," she whispered. Kenny looked like he would cry.

Andrea was livid. "What a jerk!" She already despised this teacher.
Just then, Tanner found the room. He'd gotten lost in the halls and had to ask a Hufflepuff fourth-year for directions. As a result he was very late. Realizing class had already started, he tiptoed to the one empty seat in the room and tried not to be noticed by the ghost teacher.

August looked up from her notes to see the seat next to her taken by the boy from the train. Even if she could speak, Professor Binns beat her to it.
"This is a horrendous way for the year to start," without even asking for the boys name he announced "Fifteen points from Hufflepuff due to tardiness. If there is one more classroom interruption I will be forced to assign a classroom detention to go over today's lesson for a second time,"

Tanner blushed deeply. "S-sorry professor." He opened his book and pretended to read, feeling embarrassed.

August looked over to Tanner quickly and then back to her book and notes. It was a bit uncomfortable. Didn't he try to avoid her the night before? She closed her eyes for just a moment before scribbling down more notes. On the side she marked And to think, he's just discussing the cover.

Tanner bit his lip, feeling like it'd be rude to not respond, even though August was the last person he wanted to talk too. Lots of information, I guess. he scribbled back, then went back to reading.

Just then a poltergeist floated down through the ceiling and started making faces behind Professor Binn's head. Of course, none of the first years would recognize Peeves. They probably wouldn't realize the difference between a poltergeist and any other ghost, either.

August hadn't even looked up, missing Tanner's unneeded reply, until she heard Professor Binns raise his voice for the first time in the class. "Peeves! Out! Or I'll get the Baron!"

"I'm just havin a bit of fun with the Ickle Firsties," Peeves complained in his high voice, floating around the room and through the students.

"Students. Remain calm I'll be back with help," Binns then fell through the floor to head towards the dungeon to bring the Baron.

Peeves blew a raspberry and zoomed off through the castle.

It took some time but soon enough Binns returned to the classroom, the Bloody Baron coming into the room with him. The professor looked around and noticed the absence of the poltergeist. "Thank you Baron for your time," Binns said, the Baron leaving the room quickly, either on the hunt for Peeves or in annoyance of the false alarm.

August looked back at the note that Tanner wrote, check to see if the professor was looking and then replied If he is going to just read the text to us I regret reading ahead

Tanner groaned inwardly. She really expected to keep passing notes to him? He'd just ignore her, but that felt rude. You read ahead too? He scribbled back. He passed it to her and looked very focused on what Binns was saying, hoping she'd take the hnt and not drag this out for too long.
