Potions

[Raven]

Professor Ross always kept his classroom well in order, and any detention he gave - which was little and reserved only for the very worst troublemakers - was served cleaning it. It was especially tidy in anticipation of his very first class of the year, with first years to boot. He was just hurrying to put one last thing on his desk, but in the process bumped it and sent much of what was on it onto the floor. Dismayed, he knelt and began to pick it up.

Evangeline had waited for her friends to finish their breakfast and get their timestables before attaching herself to Nikki, who had the same classes as Evangeline herself. "What do you think potions will be like?" she questioned.

"Who knows?" Nikki said excitedly. She couldn't wait for her first lesson. She'd read all the textbooks already, and she just knew she was going to be a great witch.

[Raven]

Evangeline checked her schedule again, looking for the right room. "Do you think the professor will be nice? I hope so... I bet it'll be fun, no matter what. We get to make things." She grinned. "This one's it."

Professor Ross was still on the floor when they walked in.

Nikki was surprised and approached him. "Oh... Professor, do you need help?" She knelt down to help the professor pick up his things.

[Raven]

"Oh, thank you," Professor Ross said. Evangeline joined in, and soon enough it was all on top of the desk again, though nowhere near neat. "Thank you." The professor finally looked up. "Five points to Ravenclaw." He smiled. "Now go sit down, girls."
"Alright!" Evangeline agreed, and pulled Nikki to one of the front tables.

Nikki's was ecstatic she got points within the first five minutes of class. "Thank you Professor!" She went to sit down as instructed.

Tanner had found the potions classroom without much difficulty but found the dungeon extremely foreboding. So it was with extreme nervosness he stepped into the classroom and looked for a place to sit.

[Raven]

"Welcome, welcome," Ross said, happily once he felt most of the students were there. "This is where we learn potions. I am Professor Ross. Potions isn't like your other classes. We don't use wands in this class, and I don't want to see them out." The older students could tell you that nothing happened in that class if you did have your wand out. "Potions can be made for almost anything, from curing disease and regrowing bones to poison. From cursing to love. They can be dangerous if you want them to be, or if you aren't careful. Mistakes are not a huge problem yet, the potions we'll be brewing have little potential to turn dangerous. However, more advanced potions can explode or turn to acid. That's not to say that potion making shouldn't be fun though. Just be careful while you're having fun." Professor Ross smiled. "Now, open your book to page sixteen."

Tanner sat with Nikki and Evangeline and he and Nikki did as instructed. Nikki was disappointed they wouldn't be using their wands, but wanted to try her best anyway.

[Raven]

It was a list of potion terms. "Familiarize yourself with these and what they mean, they'll help you a lot." The rest of the class was spent going over terms and rules, many of which were more like what students were allowed to do, with small limits, rather than what they weren't allowed to do. He went over safety as well.

[Raven]

"I hope we get to start doing magic soon," Evangeline confessed to Nikki and Tanner as they left the class.

"Me too." Nikki agreed. Tanner, who was somewhat shy, just smiled.
