"Let's go this way," Adam said, motioning in another direction. He once again started to walk.

"Oh sh*t, oh sh*t." Logan said as he shoved clothing into a back pack. "Samantha! Hurry up!" he shouted, zipping up the bag as he filled it almost to ripping point. As he slipped the backpack over his shoulders he heard the door open. He took in a breath and slowed down time. When he reached the door he saw it was just Samantha. As time went back to normal he saw her jump as he practically appeared right in front of her. "What are you doing? You need to be packing!" Logan said harshly.
Samantha rolled her eyes and looked up at him "I asked Mrs. Lee to hold your books for you. Last thing you need to lose are those,"
Logan calmed his breathing and said "Finish packing. We need to be out of her now,"

After another ten minutes they were out of the apartment, only leaving behind the old furniture and the perishable dairy products in the fridge.
They were now walking down the streets of the city, passing by store fronts and the ever present newspapers, always filled with news about "The Gifted War".
"War my ass," Samantha grumbled. Though usually Logan would scorn her for breaking character, he couldn't disagree with her. Though there were the rare cases, he had never had met any gifted that wanted a "War".
"The closer we get to the woods the safer we'll be," Logan mumbled, continuing to make his way to the edge of the city, seeking some sort of safety.
When they finally made it into the forest the sky was beginning to get dark. He felt Samantha grab onto his sleeve as they continued to make their way in. He wasn't sure if it was out of fear or the act but either way it kept him alert, looking to avoid trouble and find shelter.

"Hey, Adam stop for a moment." Roseanne stopped, hearing Samantha and Logan walking through the trees. "Do you hear that?"

Adam stopped and listened. He was about to say no, but he stopped and nodded, putting his hand on her shoulder.

Voices. That was what alerted Logan. He stopped walking and put his arm around Samantha, pulling her in to protect her. Even as the world grew darker, the presence of a child still seemed to bring a certain amount of mercy. He looked towards the distance, letting out a breath to slow time so he could examine his surroundings. In this light he couldn't see anything but he knew someone, or something, had to be close.

Samantha began to push away but Logan help her closer. "Yes," Logan called out, getting ready to slow time and run if needed. "We're over here,"

Roseanne smiled a bright smile and followed the voice, thinking they could get her and Adam out of the forest.

Adam followed her. "They could be agents," he said, frowning.

Logan looked towards the direction of the voice. "Why did you give away our location?" Samantha questioned, gritting her teeth.
"Calm down," Logan said quietly, as Samantha forced her features to relax. "Sneaking around only makes things worse this close to the city." He then looked back towards the direction of the voices, waiting calmly.

"So? I'm not wanted yet. You stay back if you're worried." She followed the voice until it led her to Logan and Samantha. "Oh! Hey! I'm glad to see other people here. Could you please tell me the quickest way back to town? I'm a little lost." She laughed.

Adam stayed at her side, scowling and making her feel tiny pricks of pain all over. Not enough that she couldn't deal with it without too much trouble, just enough that she wasn't comfortable.

Samantha tensed, something was wrong. Something just felt off. She grabbed Logan's sleeve tighter and pulled closer, trying to use this innocent act of shyness as a warning.
Logan patted her on the head to recognize her actions and then looked to the strangers. "Directly that way," he said, pointing behind himself to where he had just come from. "But you have a couple miles before reaching the outer limits,"

"A couple miles?" She bit her lip, feeling uncomfortable. "...Okay, thanks. " She turned to leave, wanting to get away from these people as fast as possible.
