"And Deborah," Ryan reminded her. Nikolai nodded. "It's just too bad that it's not bigger, then. We could really use a place like this."

"Yeah, but I mean with only one exit it's not like it'd be the best place for a hideout anyway. It's only good as long as nobody is looking for it." Kyla replied. "So what about you?"

"Well, no, not as a hideout, but if it were bigger we could put more equipment in here," Nikolai said. Then he looked back at her. "Me?" He seemed confused.

"Yeah I'm sure you know most've what I've told you from Ryan already. But I don't know anything about you."

"Oh, well I would like to show you, but to do that we should probably go back to my place. For now suffice to know that when my name is brought up it usually means serious trouble for whoever is hearing it. And if we ever get caught for something, never try to offer up my name, even if they have scanners," Nikolai answered, looking around once more. "We can go now, if you like."

Kyla's eyes narrowed as he spoke. "I don't think so. You're going to have to explain here."

Nikolai looked really confused. "Well, I'm an identity thief. There's a small ring of us, we all have our own ways, but in short, we get hold of old rich guys bar codes and use them instead of our own." He showed her his tattoo. "Chris Torman from Apple has lost about six thousand this week, investigation pending. The bulk of that was used for the tracker. I've got to replace it today, I was gonna show you how it's done."

Kyla nodded. "Thanks but no thanks, I got to finish repairing a board for a client today." It wouldn't actually take that long, but she was uncertain about this guy, and certainly wasn't going anywhere with him.

"Alright, have it your way," Nikolai said. "Anyway, I had an idea for something to do to help the rebellion. I was thinking if we could build some kind of radio transmission we could spread what the rebellion is about, and I was hoping you could help me with that, since I hear you're rather good at building things."

"Yeah, I do what I can. I've still got a lot to learn though. I am trying to learn how to work with computers more currently, which is hard considering I haven't even gotten mine to work yet." She gestured to the old computer in the corner.

"I could get you a functioning one," Nikolai asked. "But the sooner we get the transmitter working the better."

"Well I've been doing some reading and apparently there's something you can do called 'hacking' and it's basically remotely accessing another network via your own terminal and bypassing the security to use it as you wish. That's really where I want to go with this, as it's a heck of a lot easier to just use someone elses than to build it from scratch. If you got a quicker way to build it though I'm willing to listen."

Nikolai raised his eyebrows. "That sounds interesting. I'll bring by a computer if you want, so you can start trying. And if we can access their network, we could potentially access their data as well, and that would be infinitely useful."

"Exactly." Kyla nodded. "I'm trying to rewire that old one so it works again, but I don't know if I'd be comfortable buying one legitimately. I don't know as much about computers as I do about hoverboards, and I'd hate to ind out there's something in the computers like there is in the hoverboards so the government can watch everything you do."

"Well even taking one apart and then putting it back together would probably take less time than fixing that old one. Or even just using the parts from the new one. There definitely wouldn't be any point to having a tracker in it - they stay at home, so as long as you don't turn it on before you take it apart, no problem," Nikolai said. "At the very least, it will give you some idea as to how the things are supposed to work."
