Ryan stared dully at the train. Hogwarts had always been his place to escape from his parents, but this year felt strangely non-celebratory, not to mention lonely. It wasn't that he didn't have any friends - he had many - but his best friend had been transferred to Durmstrang when his father grew sick of the boys' antics. With a small sigh, he fiddled with his owl's cage. The tiny creature was only an owlet, a present to himself in a vain attempt to make him feel better. Stealing a few galleons from his father to buy the animal hadn't been nearly as fun without Eric there. Plus, Lynn had gotten teary-eyed when she found out her brother was stealing. Not that he'd ever get anything any other way. His mother only got him new robes every year so that he didn't embarrass the family name more than he already had. He never failed to notice that she always got him green robes either. Changing the color had been one of his first successful spell attempts. Well, if you can call turning green into a hideous pinkish color successful. Since then he'd worked at the spell until perfection. Speaking of which, he couldn't wait to be closed inside his coach so he could change this year's robes. After all, the train basically counted like Hogwarts, didn't it? Nearby, his youngest sister stood by her parents. "You... you'll write, won't you?" she stammered, wringing her hands nervously. "Of course, dearest," her mother replied, hugging her quickly. Her father squeezed her shoulder. It was the most affection she'd received from either of them for as long as she could remember and she wasn't sure how to respond, so she just fiddled with the handle to her kitten's little kennel until her older sister spoke. "It's almost time to go." The young woman was almost as cold as her parents. "Come on Coralynn, you need to get there early, since you'll take longer." "Okay, Bea..." Lynn struggled to push her cart after Beatrice, but was soon left behind.

"Let's goooooooo!" August said, pulling at her father's arm. He had taken the day off just to see his only child off to Hogwarts. "Augusta!" Her mother snapped, "Manners, remember them." Her father cleared his throat to and spoke "Oh Hannah, you have to remember your first time through the gate, how excited you were, though if I recall correctly you fell on your a-" "Sable!" Hannah interrupted and then said calmer "We're here," In the bustling of train station, there stoop the marker for platforms nine and ten. August clenched her father's sleeve and said "Can I go?" Being raised as an only child, she never had anything to fear besides her mother. "Of course you may," Sable spoke "Do you need any-" But he stopped as he saw his daughter dash in front of another family and go through the brick wall. When she got in, she pulled her kart to a stop and then saw the other family enter then followed by her mother and father "Really Augusta! Manner!" Hannah scorned but as always, Sable stepped in, as always and said "Oh she's just excited Hannah, be soft with her," Sable then moved his daughter to the side and said "You have everything? All packed, ready to go?" "Of course!" "Okay, well, good luck," He kissed his daughter on the forehead and with that she moved towards the train, her mother gazing after her. "We'll see her this winter Hannah," Sable said "Don't worry."
August pushed through the crowd, trying to avoid her cousins that were sure to be somewhere around her. She was the only only child in the family, the rest having siblings so thaty didn't quite understand what it was like to be alone on their first day. Not that it bothered her, she knew she'd be great, though a little tinge of doubt was in the back of her mind. As her stuff was loaded onto the train she eyed the Villein family. The oldest sibling always seemed to be hanging around with Her older cousins but that's all she knew of them besides they were somehow related my marriage and they had a girl around her age. 'Maybe we could be friends,' she thought to herself, dazing off staring at the young girl but then adding in thought 'THough she'll probably be sitting with my cousins,' She then turned and made one final wave goodbye to her parents, who were also joining her relatives then hopped into the train, finding herself an empty compartment near the back, rather sitting alone then with her family.

Lynn had trouble enough finding a compartment without worrying about finding one particular compartment. She was glad enough to put her kitten on a seat, even if she was alone.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah Black was already at the Prefect's compartment. No point wasting time with the other Slytherins. They were all beneath him anyway.

After the annual meet and great of the families, Augusta being absent, as expected, the Hawthorn children made their way onto the train. Riley headed off to find a compartment by herself. Though not the youngest of the group, she had always been treated like the runt of the litter. Augusta always stayed separated, preferring to play on her lonesome then with her cousins. Then there was little Aleece, but being the baby, she was always kept away from the older children. Riley let out a huff of frustration before coming across a compartment with it's only inhabitant being her cousin on her mother's side. "Lynn!" Riley said in an overly excited and happy tone "I almost forgot this was your first year!" 'and what a treat it will be,' she added in thought.
While Riley was off with the other side of the family and Seamus lurking somewhere on his lonesome, Nezza and Elijia made their way to the prefect compartment. Nezza was more excited then she had in a long while. This was her first step towards greatness, it all starting with being the star prefect of Hufflepuff. Elijia was more collected, having been prefect two years before continuing onto Headboy. Nezza was the first to enter and when she did she saw Jerimiah for the first time sense the end of summer. Trying to keep her cool, she just let out a calm, "Hey," waiting for a reply back before taking the empty seat next to him. Elijia nodded and just sat right down opposite to the boy that was dating his sister.

"Mom, calm down. It's magic, it's supposed to be weird," Nikki said patiently as they got out of the car. "But I'm telling you, there is no Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross station!" Her mom said worriedly. "And I checked the listings, it says there is no train that leaves at 11 o'clock today!" "Maybe," Nikki's dad said, adjusting his glasses and hauling her school things out of the trunk of the car. "It's like that pub that teacher showed us into. What did they call it? The Leaky Cauldron?" "Exactly!" Nikki grinned. "We'd never seen it before, right? It was completley invisible until we looked for it. Maybe platform nine and three-quarters works the same way. Or maybe it's like the wall into Diagon Alley, that looks normal until you tab the right brick? It's okay, mom. We'll figure it out." "I still don't see why the teacher couldn't have told you how to get onto the platform before she just dissappeared." Nikki's mother grumbled as she went to grab a trolley. Nikki started loading her things onto the cart. "I don't know, she probably had more important things to do then answer my questions," Nikki frowned. "Come on Nikola," Her dad said, using her full name which she hated. "If we stand around arguing you'll miss you train," Nikki knew her dad was right, so the two walked together to the barriers between platform 9 and platform 10.
"It's not here! Nikki, it's not here!" Her mom fretted. "Oh, if Nikki misses her train..." "Be quiet mom," Nikki said hurriedly. "Muggles arent supposed to know, remember? Just, calm down. We've just got to... find someone who's done this before," She sounded as if she were trying to convince herself as much as her mother. "Yeah that's it. Somebody who already knows how to get onto the platform. Does anyone around here look off to you?"

"Forget who I was, sweetheart?" Jeremy asked with an easy smirk, though he secretly wanted to pull Nezza into his arms. He put his feet up on the seat next to Elijia and lightly rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, it is," Lynn murmured, her hair turning an inconspicuous brown color and her eyes a meek blue-grey.
'Off' would be the most accurate way of describing Evangeline. Though she didn't have strange colored hair or a pig-nose, she was most definitely not normal. She was pushing a cart with a large Savannah cat in a notably small carrier. A small suitcase was stuck next to the kennel and colorful pieces of fabric were sticking out all over, as though she had literally thrown her clothes in. The thing that really pointed out how different she was, though, was what she was wearing. Her black hair in pigtails and her black skinny jeans and converse gave her the look of a punk and her blue bubblegum did nothing to help. Her tee shirt, however, proclaimed in large lettering "can you dance like a hippogriff?" and on the back read 'The Weird Sisters' with dates and names that were supposedly the locations and times of their last tour's stops. Ear buds poked out of her ears as she strode towards the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. "Could you move? You're in the way and not going anywhere," she said, looking Nikki up and down. She barely glanced at the girl's parents.

Oh yes, the trait of THAT side of the family. She kept her bitterness locked up as she saw her cousin change so easily. Riley smiled and said "Make sure not to do that under the sorting hat, You don't want it even MORE embarrassing when you're up there,"
Nezza could have just melted when she was that smirk, but she stay composed and took a seat next to Jerimiah. Giving him a kiss on the cheek and she thought 'Now if only Elijia weren't here..' But of course she knew her brother wouldn't leave the two of them together, and she knew perfectly well why he wouldn't trust them alone.

Jeremy was content to wait until school started to get a chance alone with Nezza. After all, Elijia couldn't watch them all the time. Especially not in the Slytherin dormitories. He grinned at the thought alone, knowing there were any number of things he could get away with as a prefect in Slytherin. No one would dare tell anyone he'd brought a Hufflepuff there. No more risking the Room of Requirement for them. He wouldn't miss it one bit. Especially not the beating he'd been through afterwards. Simply staying away from Nezza wasn't an option to him... He decided to play it confident and smirked, pulling Nezza all but onto his lap. "It's been a long summer," he said, drawing out the word 'long'.
Lynn looked mortified. "I can't help it," she insisted.

Elijia's fingers twitched but he stayed calm "They have done many studies on how time moves slower when one is healing from injuries, so that could explain your," he looked Jeremiah in the eyes and finished with "Little issue," emphasizing the word little. Nezza ignored her brother and moved with Jerimiah's pull. She was usually one to tease him, and make him pout but after and entire summer away, she was okay with not being in complete control, for just this moment.
"To bad you can't wear a hat up to the sorting hat," Riley said "That would fix your problem," She smiled sweetly and said "As long as your skin tone doesn't change,"

"I'm sure," Jeremy replied. "So what's your excuse?" He kissed the corner of Nezza's mouth.
"It doesn't," Lynn whispered. "As far as I know." She looked almost teary at Riley's words.

Nezza wanted to watch this battle of words continue all the way to school, but she knew it would only take a few more rounds for Elijia to attack. "Come on boys, play nice," She slid away from Jerimiah and just kept their arms linked. "We're supposed to be the example remember?" Elijia closed his eyes and then pushed down Jeremiah's feet. "I feel like we're still missing a few,"
Riley payed no attention to her cousin's distress and said "Well at least you don't have to worry about any sucky houses this year, even Hufflepuff's been doing great last couple years."

Lynn could only manage to squeak.
"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock, Jesse's not here," Jeremiah said, naming Slytherin's head girl. He clearly was not pleased that the other boy's presence was losing him time to be with Nezza. They'd hardly been able to see each other since the Room of Requirement incident.

Nikki was very confused. "I'm... I'm in the way?" she questioned.
Jesse was in a very, very good mood. She pushed her trolley down the hall, her large great horned owl perched in its cage and of course, her head Girl badge on. She hadn't expected to get it, but there you go. She didn't really care for most of it, but she got to klead the initiation. How awesome was that? Her god mood began to evaporate when she got to the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Great, some idiot Mudblood was blocking the wayto the platform. Jesse wanted to hex her. She wouldn't, though... no point getting herself expelled.

"Yeah," Evangeline snapped, motioning emphatically towards the barrier. "You are definitely in the way."
