Professor Viette waited patiently for her first class to arrive. She couldn't wait to meet the new batch of first-years.

Lynn knew full well that her brother wouldn't help even her find her classes. As he put it, "You're learning, just like the rest of us." So she'd asked some of the Gryffindor second years. They were young enough to not want to upset him, and old enough to know where the classes were. It also helped that Jeremiah had been standing nearby and Lynn pointed out that he was her cousin. So, it was with a confident stride that she walked out onto the grounds for her Flying class. She was the first to arrive.

Andrea had been smart and stuck to a couple first years who looked like they knew where they were going, and let them ask for directions. As a result she managed to get to Flying lessons with ease. She smiled at Lynn as she walked through the door.

Lynn smiled and waved. "Hi, Andrea. Did you find class easy enough?"

Andrea nodded. "Piece of cake," she then turned to the teacher. "when do we start?" she tried to sound excited.
Professor Viette smiled at her. "as soon as the rest of the class come, sweetie."
Almost as if on que, Wesley ran in. "Am I late?"
Professor Viette shook her head. "You're right on time."
Wesley laughed. "Damn, I'm good!" he went to stand with the gryffindors who'd already made it.

Astin, however, was several long seconds late. He raced towards the group. When he stopped, huffing and puffing, he managed to get a few words out between gasps for breath. "Am... I... late...?"
Lynn stifled a giggle behind her hand at her cousin.

"No, you're right on time," Professor Viette said, not caring about a few seconds. "Everyone stand beside a broom, please! Stand on the rifght side of your broom, unless of course you're left handed. Then stand on the left."
Andrea stepped up to the right side of her broom, curious as too what was going to happen.
Wesley eagerly stood to the right of his broom. He already knew how to do this, but he figured he'd better do it on time with the other students.

Astin also stepped up to the right side of his broom, while Lynn stood next to Andrea, on the left side of her own.

"Alright! Now everyone, stick your dominant hand over the broom, and say 'Up!'"
"Up!" Wesley commanded, and the broom jumped into his hand. He grinned.
"Up," Andrea said in an expectant voice, and was surprised that her broom only quivered on the ground. Why wasn't hers working like that Gryffindo boys?

"Up!" Lynn cried. Her broom came half way to her hand, then fell back to the ground. She frowned. She'd heard that Ryan got his on the first try, just like that Gryffindor next to Astin.
Astin commanded his broom raise, just like the others, but his broom barely moved.

"Now now, don't be discouraged if you didn't get it on your first try, That rarley ever happenes to more than thee or four a class!" Professor Viette said, though she beamed at Wesley. "Is this your first time on a broomstick?" She asked him.
"No, my dad taught me to ride when I was six," Wesley said proudly.
"There, you see?"Professor Viette said to the rest of the class. "So don't be surprised if it's a little harder than you expected. Now, let's try again. Try not to sound hesitat or afraid. For those who'll understand the analogy, brooms are like horses; They can sense your mood and won't let you ride if you're terrified," She smiled. "Try again, then."
That makes sense Andrea had never ridden a horse, but she'd seen others ride them. She wondered if Professor Viette was a muggle-born, too. She tried to mimic the tone Wesley had used, and tried very hard not to sound intimidated. "Up!" The broom jumped into her hand, though it had seemed to hesitate before doing so. She clearly needed more practise. Still, good enough. She smirked. ((are any of the other classes gonna start?))

(( I'm waiting for Fox, I'll make sure she replies today )) "Up!" Lynn commanded forcefully. Her broom immediately jumped to her hand.
Astin looked around and tried again, noting that a good deal of the class already had their brooms in hand. "Up," he tried once again. The broom barely left the ground. "Up! Up, up, up!" he repeated, frustrated. Finally, the broom flew to his hand.

"Great!" Professor Viette cried. "Now, I'm going to walk around one by one and show you how to mount your broom. Be careful and don't try it before I come, or you may slide off the end. If you already know how, I'd still like you to wait please, because I want to see how you do it." Here she shot a look at Wesley. Then she went over to Astin and tried to show him how to mount his broom without sliding off the end.

Astin nodded and mounted it, his feet didn't leave the ground. He gripped the shaft tightly.
