Eric thought for a moment, then glanced over the banister. He shivered slightly at the thought of splattering all over the ground. "Maybe," he whispered back, "But I'm not gonna clean you up when you hit the ground."

"I'd rather have your ass," Eric responded in a completely serious tone. Moments later, he cracked up, which caused a few first years to glance back and see what was going on. He pulled a face in response to them.

August got out of the boat right after the twins got onto the dock. She looked at the two and said "So here we go," She looked up the long set of stairs they had to walk up and she thought 'This place is huge!'

Jenna listened to the order of things grudgingly. She'd rather never be sorted. She hated the sick pain of paranoia and nevousness in her stomach. She didn't think she could eat anyway. She had to be in Gryffindor, and be completely successful, not to mention on the quidditch team, like her brother. She sighed, ready to get it over with.

Tanner nodded, "Come on, we lost Wesley," he said, quuickening his pace as he attempted to find his brother. "there you are!"
"Hey, Tanner, what kept you?" Wesley asked.
"I wait for my friends, unlike some people," Tanner said, but grinned to show he was joking.
"Yeah, well come on, this professor Marx guy should be back to Sort us any minute," Wesley grinned, facing foreward. Tanner stepped in front of his brother, not sure if they were supposed to be in alphabetical order like elementry school or not.

Marx stepped back into the hallway all the first years were gathered in. The doors to the Great Hall were open, revealing most of the other students sitting down at their correct tables.
"First years, form a line and follow me," he shouted above the din, waving his hands for them to follow.

Wesley and tanner joined the line forming.
Nikki stood near the back looking nervous.
Andrea plastered her innocent smile on her face and stood near the front, looking mainly up at Professor Marx. It was a universal truth that getting your way with adults meant you had to suck up to them and give them there way first.

Ryan pulled Eric inside to the Gryffindor table, grinning as they sat down.
Lynn stood right behind Andrea, pulling Liz so she was behind her. "Where did you disappear to earlier?" she whispered to the girl in front of her.
Astin stood near Nikki, equally nervous. What if he didn't get Gryffindor? What if he were put in Hufflepuff? The eleven-year-old boy bit his lip nervously.

"I was around," Andrea said, shrugging. "Fishing for information, if you want to know the truth, but shush, I doubt the teacher wants us talking," She smiled.
Nikki hardly noticed the boy. What was the sorting ceremony anyway? Was it some sort of test? But she didn't know any magic! And she'd be in front of the entire school....

Rodrik sat at the Gyffindor table, also. He watched his sister intently. He made sure not to sit near Ryan and Eric. The scene spread out before him, Rodrik watched.
Genevive got in line, not paying much attention.

August was ecstatic when she was placed in line next to the twins. She stayed close to them, she put her hair in front of her an messed with it nervously, hoping that she would be sorted soon.

Marx didn't mind the talking, as long as they weren't extremely loud. He raised his old wand, muttered a phrase, and summoned the Sorting Hat into his hands. With another phrase, a stool zoomed from a corner of the hall to his hand. He set the hat on the stool and stepped to the side, facing the entire dining hall, waiting for the chatter to die down. His arms were crossed, his face the absolute picture of sternness.
