Autumn, not sure if she got them all and figuring they were smart enough to follow if she hadn't, glanced at the first years, then turned and led them out of the hall after Hufflepuff and Slytherin.

Eric, noting his friend's position, flopped down on top of him so his legs were over the back of the armchair and his head was on Ryan's waist.

Ryan looked at Eric. "Yeah.. But I'm sure she'll make plenty of friends in Hufflepuff.. I mean, it could have been worse, especially with how the Hat's been making so many mistakes."

Eric gave an even greater sigh and looked at Ryan. "She doesn't belong in Hufflepuff," he mumbled, "And I don't belong here. If anything, we should switch places. I mean, you've seen my grades. They suck ass. Nggh."

"She is too brave!" Eric insisted, sitting up and facing Ryan, "And by that logic, I'm not the bravest, either." The last bit was a partial lie; if anything, Eric was foolhardy and courageous.

That morning, Wesley decided he'd wait for Wesley and Eric before heading down to the Great Hall, and settled into an armchair to wait.

Eric jumped to his feet the moment the prospect of missing breakfast was mentioned. "I'm awake! I'm awake!" he shouted. He snatched his wand from the nighstand and dashed off towards the great hall, nearly running into Wesley along the way.

Eric skidded to a stop in front of the exit into the rest of the school. "Waiting for us?" he asked of the little first year, stuffing his wand in the pocket of his Spongebob pajama pants. There wasn't any clearer sign that he was muggle-born than his pajamas.
