In a town tucked away in the hills somewhere northwest of Kanto is a small town you won’t find on any map. This is not an accident. Pokemon from all regions can be found in this tiny town, but there are no roads going in or out of the place. The roads were demolished so no ten year olds on their pokemon adventure could go there. Crimson town is no place for children. The town is divided in four parts. The northernmost part of town is known as the Ruby district. This is where the school and most of the high-end families reside. A small, eastern sliver just off to the side of the Ruby district is home to the areas tiny middle-class, known as the Scarlet Suburbs. These two groups often try to keep their children out of the constant violence and gang wars of the largest division of town, the poor neighbourhood of Blood Burrow, but that is a near impossible task. The feud is everywhere, and nowhere in town is safe. Even the streets of Redworks, the exclusively industrial area of town, are dangerous. The streets are a constant turf war, pokemon attack humans and other pokemon. The police force is swamped, so much so that some have given up trying. After all, in the eyes of the law that 5 year old kid who’s parents gave them a pokemon to defend themselves and a 15 year old hardened gang member training illegally were to receive equal sentences, and to many it didn’t seem right as it was. Training pokemon illegally was an extremely common practice in Crimson town. A person had two chances to become a trainer: Once when they were ten, and again when they were eighteen. To register at other times, one must complete several forms to show they can take care of their pokemon, pay a small fine, and wait upwards of three weeks. Whether it’s because of the fine, or the paperwork, or the fact you’re denied if you’ve got a criminal record, many kids simply weren’t able to go through that hassle. Choose an allegiance and choose it well, because Crimson town is a dangerous place. If you play your cards right, you could come out on top. If not, you’ll be lucky to make it out alive. -------------------------------------- If you are playing a legal trainer: - You may only carry six pokemon with you at any time
- You can swap your pokemon with previously caught and stored away pokemon via computer. Number of stored pokemon is not limited.
- You have a Pokedex – your character can know all the different types of pokemon.
- You can take your pokemon to Nurse Joy
If you are playing someone who is training illegally: - If you carry more than six pokemon, you must prove your character can carry that many pokeballs, or you must leave most of them at home hidden. So if you have thirty-eight pokemon, expect to have a huge sack to haul them all around.
Note: This rule does not apply to the first six pokemon. Double Note: If you leave your pokemone at home and for some reason the police raid your house, they will be confiscated. Just warning you.
- You do not get a computer database to store pokemon. What you start with is what you have.
- A Pokedex comes with legal registration. Therefore, you do not have one. You’ll have to learn about pokemon you meet as you meet them. Obviously you’ll know some before the rp starts, but not all. (unless you’re like, a giant nerd with an almanac or something in which case... really? You’re playing a nerd in a gang oriented rp? Really?)
- If you take your pokemon to Nurse Joy, she will call the cops on you and you will be arrested for illegally training pokemon. However, it is perfectly okay to bug a legal friend to give your pokemon to Nurse Joy on your behalf and have them pretend it’s theirs.
- Obviously, don’t go to the police. Do I really even need to say that?
For very small children (under ten): - Though it’s technically illegal, most police and Nurse Joy will let you slide with one or two pokemon because you need them for protection.
- Any more than two, and you’re considered an illegal trainer.
- This, obviously, does not apply to everyone because it relies on compassion. So don’t go playing some rich, sadistic eight year old and expect to be let slide because you’ve only got two pokemon. (Yes, I’m talking to you, Raven)
NOTE TO ALL: YOUR POKEBALLS CAN AND WILL BE STOLEN UNLESS KEPT IN COMPUTER

"My, the streets haven't been this quiet in a good while. I must say, I'm disappointed that not a single opportunity to rip a thug limb from limb has arisen." Calvin Erig casually meandered down the avenues of the Blood Burrow, his quiet Deino companion shuffling alongside him. "Oh, if only there was a challenge to be had this day." He shook his head, removing a cheap cigarette from his pocket and placing it in his mouth, not lighting it just yet. The Deino sniffed at the air, seeming rather skittish. Calvin grinned lightly, calm and collected. "Nervous? Don't be. You have major advantage over anyone who dares to step out of the shadows and fight." Calvin reassured. The Deino licked its chops, growling lightly, then continued shuffling alongside Calvin without another sound. Calvin took a Pokeball from his belt and held it up, admiring the Pokemon that lay inside. "Major advantage indeed...." He said more to himself than his Deino.
Evening approached, but Calvin walked on, happily strolling, on the hunt for anyone who sought a fight. He hummed to himself as he walked, then froze suddenly. His Deino snarled, tensing for battle. Calvin reached for a Pokeball, listening closely for the noise he'd heard moments before. With a gentle toss, a Chandelure erupted from the Pokeball. It screeched as it awoke, its flames intensifying and illuminating the darkened streets. The Deino and Chandelure both looked ready for battle, and Calvin stepped toward the alleyway he'd heard the noise from. "Now, who wants to come out and play?" He asked, his underlying sadist nature present in his tone. As answer to his dark question, a timid Glameow inched from out of the shadows. It held back its ears and arched its back, but was utterly thin and frail, lacking the intimidation that it attempted to display. Calvin frowned, pitying the starved and weak little creature. "Poor thing.....Such a life must be so....miserable...." He grinned, snapping a finger. His Deino shot forward, Crunching down on the far too slow Glameow with a sickening crack. Shaking its head, the Deino tossed aside the corpse and lazily walked back to the sidewalks, sensing no further need to fight. Calvin withdrew his rather disappointed Chandelure with a sigh. "How sad. A miserable little Pokemon has been spared the agony of life." He laughed monotonously, then pulled out a lighter, lighting his cigarette and continuing down the road.

Crimson, ruby, scarlet, maroon, red. All the color of blood really. Even black is one of the colors of blood. But in this city, those colors become almost bland. So why would her mother name her something like Scarlet? It was a name that never sounded real especially because her parents had failed to pass on a last name to their only child. Even still, it had made sense to her mother and it made sense to Scarlet. She had been five when it had been explained; by her father since her mother had died shortly after giving birth. He had told her to get her to shut up, coldly he had said it, not caring what age the girl was. "She called you Scarlet because she had always been stuck in the Blood Burrows. She wanted you to move to the Scarlet Suburbs. But that won't ever happen because you're lazy and stupid. Now write." Those words from her father did the opposite of what he wanted them to do. They made Scarlet think. And with her name as a constant reminder she started her mission to move into the Suburbs for the mother she wished she had the chance to meet. At five, she could never have guessed that this mission could take her the places she had been. Breaking the law at all would have shocked her then. Now, however, she was an illegal trainer, secretly involved in multiple gangs, a thief, and perhaps worst of all she ran a small black market exclusively for buying and trading pokemon. She had a small hideout where she held most of the stock; rows upon rows of pokeballs, each labeled with the species contained inside. Along with this, she generally carried a backpack with a few of the weaker pokemon inside. It was an attempt to make people believe she never held much stock. Of course, she also let people know that she would catch any pokemon at request, no charge. It was a great way to earn money but if she was honest, she used most of it to feed the pokemon. For a black market dealer and an illegal trainer, she was very affectionate towards pokemon. Occasionally she even went so far as to give scraps to strays, because she hated to see them suffer. So it almost physically hurt when she saw that poor Glameow get attacked. She had been on the roof at the time, returning to her lair. It had been stupid to investigate the source of the noise. But it was too late now. Still on the roof, she called to the boy. "Hey! What do you think you're doing, killing pokemon like that?" she called, glaring down at the trainer and his pokemon. There was no way this kid was legal, and of course that meant there was no way of telling how many pokemon he had. She dropped her bag from her black-clad shoulder and jumped into the alleyway. She would go back for her bag after she showed this kid how to behave.
Cases like theirs were not at all common. They had lived in the Ruby District until he was 9. They had never had need to illegally own pokemon, even in this dangerous city. They were simply rich enough to hire people to protect them. Then all at once it had changed. Even now thinking about how quickly it had happened confused him. One day he simply didn't have a home anymore. The remaining Villeins were forced to move into the Blood Burrows, an area that scared him more than anything. They didn't have money to hire protectors anymore. They hardly had money for food. Looking back it was a miracle in itself he had found Sneasel. They both needed each other then, Sneasel needed a home, Ryan needed protection. He kept her a well-hidden secret until he turned ten and applied to be a legal trainer. Once he was accepted, he caught himself a few more pokemon, caught one for Lynn. Of course, if anyone really wanted to hurt either of them, their pokemon would do little to even stall most of the Illegals. But they weren't the easiest prey, and he hoped that would be enough to deter others.

_____________________
A man of around twenty two was heading to his home in Blood Burrow when suddenly a little Purrlion slipped around the corner, ran to him and began tugging his pant leg. He bent down. ¡°Vivian...?¡± This was her Purrlion. Was she in trouble? She must need him urgently, or she¡¯d never send a pokemon to get him. The Purrlion nodded and shot off through the streets. He followed the pokemon through the streets of Blood Burrow and into the Ruby District. He was surprised. Vivian was safe in her home? But then why didn¡¯t she come and get him? The window was open. He climbed through it. He¡¯d let himself into a guest bedroom, and Vivian was standing there. He took in her familiar form. The ripped, dark skinny jeans and the black t-shirt with slits in the breasts and sleeves that made her look almost gothic. Her red and white striped hat, long black hair, pink, lipgloss coated lips a twinkling green eyes gave off a wacky but helpless look. It always amazed him how she changed into a completely different person in a pokemon battle ¨C she was a vicious, dirty opponent. Out of battle, she seemed so naive. One couldn¡¯t help trusting her. He supposed that¡¯s how, whenever the gang needed someone relieved of their pokemon, she was able to do it. ¡°Oh good you¡¯re here! You¡¯re here!¡± She came over. ¡°Could you please hang on for just a minute¡± She asked in her ever-so-sweet voice. "I'm just going to grab something quickly. I need your help on a matter of utmost importance." "Of course." He said, surprised, and sat down on the bed. It really was a pretty room, the kind only the rich could have. Vivian re-entered the room and he looked up at her. She smiled at him and spoke softly. "Dreams relieve you of your sorrows and troubles that make you weep." "What" It was then he saw Hypno standing below her. Far, far too late. The last thing he heard before he passed out was Vivians voice. "Because they are heaven-made, have one, and fall asleep."
Vivian smiled. There was no chance of her victims escaping her trap once she had them in her home. Hypno could induce sleep in three seconds, even if they'd just woken up. She returned him and went to find the tape.
When he came to, he was bound to a chair. He was not gagged, but his eyes were covered. Or at least, mostly covered. he could lust see through a small slit in the blindfold. The door was open, and he could see down the hall into the kitchen beyond. Vivian was down there, her hat sitting crooked on her head. She was pulling out a long knife. He wasn't afraid she'd hurt him... he knew why she needed it. But it scared him almost more than if it was his actual, physical life at stake. She came back in and saw him looking. "My my, you bad kid, how dare you wake up so early!" She cried with a huge grin on her face, despite being at least five years his junoir, at sixteen. Ìf the blindfold comes off, shall I blind you instead?" She watched his eyes widen, and his body begin to shake. The fear was probably the most exhilerating part. "Why are you trembling in front of me like a scared little mouse?" She laughed, went around the chair, and put his arm around him. "This is my domain, where it is as safe as any place." She said in a low voice. "I'll just toll what's in your pockets, now, we shall not lose any haste!" She took out three of his pokeballs from his pocket, and another six off his belt. He did not react. He would not show this traitor weakness. He kept his face impassive. Then he felt her use her fingers to lift the corners of his mouth. "Oh look," She said. "Now you're smiling. Isn't that the cutest sight?" The smile finally fell off her face. "But you still wear lies, so let's go back to our play tonight." She put the knife in his pocket, and ripped his carefully stitched seam open. This was where he kept his strongest, his last resort pokemon. Including... no, but she wouldn't... "Please" He gasped. "Do whatever you want from me, but don't take Geodude! He's my first pokemon, I cant lose him! I won't tell anyone it was you, I swear! You can go find a new gang and no one'll be the wiser! Just... please..." She surveyed him for a moment. Then, as she took the last pokeball out of his pocket, she said the thing she knew would frighten him most. "Where's the fun in that?" She released Hypno, and he fell asleep again.
She went up to her room and put the pokeballs in a plastic bag. Normally she'd just use her purse, which she kept facing her body so one could not open the flap and steal things out of it, but she'd gotten a huge haul over the last few days. Five victims, forty pokemon - Rhyme and Scarlett would love her. Not all fortyy pokemon would fit in her purse, so she threw them all into a plastic bag, preparing to set out. If they got stolen, oh well. They weren't her pokemon anyway. She took of her hat and pulled a pokeball out of the hidden pocket inside. She'd gotten the man in the other room to sew it for her not four months ago. She smiled at how quickly things could change. "Sable, come out!" Sableye appeared, ready to help. Vivians first ever pokemon, given to her when she was eight and had been obsessed with all things sparkly. Back then, it was just for denfense. Now it was part of a team, and so much more. "Sableye, get rid of him, my parents will be home soon." She said. Sableye floated into the other room and picked up the man, whom Vivian had cut from his chair as she spoke. Sable carried him out the window. He'd wake up in an alley in Blood Burrow somewhere tomorrow morning. Then, she grabbed the safeway bag, and jumped out the window. It was time to go see what she could sell.___________________ Name: Stephen "Seven" Evandue Age: 15 Classification: Legal Number of Pokemon: 6 Other: From Scarlet Suburbs; No known gang affiliations (but that can change ); Hangs out around Pokemon Center

Calvin halted, Dragma spinning around and growling at the stranger that dropped from the rooftop. A sinister grin now emerged on Calvin's face, and he too spun around to meet this stranger. Brushing aside his coat to reveal the Pokeballs on his belt, he yawned, answering, "Oh, I've done a service for the miserable little thing. Believe me, it's no loss that the starved, frail creature has met its end." He crossed his arms, Dragma sniffing at the newcomer, then baring her teeth and growling in a deeper tone.

Scarlet pulled a pokeball from her belt, the one containing Zweilous. She didn't open it quite yet, though. "I'm not so easily discouraged by your belt, kid. I think it's time you learned how to respect your elders." With that, she clicked open her pokeball, releasing her two-headed dragon. It let out a ferocious roar.

It was a mostly abandoned area of the city, which was saying something, considering how thickly populated the barrows were. It looked like a shantytown, except devoid of residents. A few people wandered about here and there, mostly scavengers trying to find something interesting. A few feral Pokemon were about, as well, with a few Murkrows roosting atop a tin roof. Snubbull crept forward a few paces, her beady eyes focused on the dark birds. Finally, she leaped from her perch, landing with a loud crash on the roof. The birds immediately scattered.
Rhyme pushed aside the cloth that served as the temporary store entrance. He was always on the move, running both from the police and rivals. The shack had become his most recent dwelling, a very small "house" constructed out of creaking wood with a metal roof. The cloth serving as the door probably belonged to the previous owners.
"Get off the damn roof, Snubb!" he shouted, exiting and turning to look at the pink bulldog. Snubbull growled back, but obediently got down. She idly sniffed a red, zigzag-like marking on the outer wall of the shack. Rhyme nudged her away with his foot before returning to the inside of the "store." He couldn't wait to get some damn business.

It wasn't uncommon for her to leave her home for days or even weeks. After all, she didn't have to worry about her parents anymore. She lived off their inheritance, and staying at home even cost more money, for it was costly to heat and cool the house and to use the water. No one really came to her home, except occasional salesmen or people offering to do business. Various gangs sent goons knocking on her door when they found out where she lived. Most of the time she knew that someone had sent someone after her when she found that some of her food had been eaten, for that was all they really managed to do when she wasn't home. They would never find the money, so it didn't bother her. The only other visitors she ever got, the only welcome ones, were her boys. It was quite rare that she would like them enough to show them where she lived, though, and most of the time they spent their alone time at the boy's house.
Given all this, it was no wonder that Kat had found herself in the Burrows, again. It was easier to get by for someone like her here. There was no one telling you to get off their lawn because here, people looked at her three belts and they let her do what she wanted. People here were smart in a way that the Ruby's weren't. They were street smart; survival smart. That's what she liked about these people. There was no bickering, no gossip. There were fights and there was control. It was rare she had a rich boy for a companion, and when she did the relationship didn't last long for two reasons. The first was that she hated their incessant whining about how they couldn't get the perfect pokemon because so-and-so out bid them. The second was that (strangely enough) she hated being spoiled with gifts. So she took a much deeper liking to the poor boys of the Blood Burrows. For their personalities (which most girls would probably find hurtful) and because the only thing they could give her was exactly what she wanted.
Perhaps what she wanted from Rhyme?
Kat had finally found his new home. "As if that were the right word. Try shack," she thought out loud and snorted in laughter. Really, the place was pitiful. It didn't even have a door. A door that wouldn't have stopped her when she waltzed across the little ghost town to enter. And the interior wasn't much better. She crossed her arms across her chest as she looked around the hovel. "This place is a mess."

Vivian carried her shopping bag through the streets, purposely crossing of the turf that belonged to her old gang. They wouldn't realise it was her until morning, when her five victums awoke and told her tale. Until then, she was safe on her streets. She had her twins, the sisters Espeon and Umbreon, walking beside her to watch for thieves. It was rare she got to go sell a haul, but she always kept tabs on where the shop moved to for when she did. She ducked under a tarp. "Hey Rhyme." She knew there was another market, run by a girl named Scarlett, but she couldn't sell to Scarlett, just trade. So Vivian did mosrr of her business with Rhyme. SHe saw another girl there whom she wasn't quite familliar with. Not that that was a surprise. Vivian rarely remembered more than a few days back, and would callously discard memories and feelings for anyone in her gang when she moved on. They only got you in trouble, anyway. She nodded at the girl and, though she already had spoken, decided to wait her turn.

Dragma cringed at the obviously dominant Zweilous, and wisely backed away, snorting indignantly. With a sly smile, Calvin removed a Pokeball from his belt and said, "Respect? You may be my elder, but I only respect my superiors." He clicked his own Pokeball to release a Toxicroak, one that landed and immediately assumed a fighting stance, smirking at the Zweilous.

Zweilous snarled and both heads let out jets of what could only be described as, for lack of evidence otherwise, dragon essence. Dragon Breath. Scarlet merely watched and waited for the battle to tilt one way or another. She knew her pokemon would never get stronger if she withdrew them at the first sign of a challenge.

Snubbull's ears rose and she growled at Kat's arrival. Anybody who visited, no matter who they happened to be, was a trespasser. Rhyme threw his Pokeball at the pink bulldog, immediately returning it, before looking up to Kat. He grinned at her, as if ignoring Vivian completely.
"Yeah, yeah, thanks," he smiled, leaning on the wooden desk that served as the store counter, "What d'you got for me?" He casually tucked the Pokeball in his pocket, too busy to put it on the chain. He peered over Kat's shoulder to finally acknowledge Vivian with a nod. "Wait your turn, pretty lady."

Kat smiled in that way she had. "A few leveling stones. And this." She pulled a pokeball out of her jacket pocket and tossed it to him. "It's high-level from what I can tell. A metagross."

Venojab took the foul breath without complaint, then resumed a position to strike. "Impressive first strike." Calvin mused. "Now its my turn. Cross Poison." Venojab shot forward, uppercutting the Zweilous with both arms, the points oozing a vile poison.
