"Oh... You poor thing." I say softly, figuring the sound may of made him sensitive.
Why did I think of bugs that break the sound barrier?
After a moment I carefully try to pick him up.

Stephano immediately wrapped his taiil very tightly around sparrow, his claws gripping her shirt and his head resting on her shoulder.

I gently pet him, hoping to give more comfort.
"There there. It'll be okay."
I look back to the stream. Was it up or down stream you're meant to follow? Down may lead to the ocean... But what good would that do? So with that I start to head up stream.

"Oh dear... What now?" I say worriedly feeling him shaking.
I examine him closely, looking for anything different, and check to see if the skin temperature is normal.

He seemed fine. Then he started giving off short high whines very unlike his hunger noises.

Okay think. So far this is just like a puppy or a baby. ... Besides the whole being a dragon thing... Alright. Food, check. Heath, check. Maybe it's tired or needs a bathroom break?
I scan the surroundings to be sure it's safe. After thinking it safe I focus on Stephano.
Maybe he needs to be burped? How should I know? x.x
I gently pat him on the back to see if that's the problem.

The dragon promptly climbed up her jeg and into her shirt, where he seemed content to remain.

The action surprises me for a moment.
"...Aw. Are you cold?" I figure that's the most likely reason and tuck my jacket over it, then continue up stream.

Perhaps because of my shouting, something sounded. I looked up from my tired position to see a swarm of somethings just burst out from the trees, heading anywhere but the forest. They looked like a bunch of cicadas that wanted to block out the sun.
"She's not your god," 13 replied to Kat, shaking her head sadly. She seemed to be ignoring the fleeing swarm above. It looked like it had come from not too far down the stream.

"Oh, sure in stories. But I've always liked forests. The most dangerous thing that ever happened to me in a forest was I got stalked by a cougar. And that was in Tofino. Although I am on Gilese, so yes, the forest are definately dangerous. But it's not like I really have a choice. I'm just going to follow directions until I see Cheshire again or I run into THEM. Whichever comes first. But wait... What do you mean about my hair? I don't even know you! So what if I have red hair?"

"Temper to match your hair, Gingy." He walked closer to her, "I'm not sure who exactly you're planning to run into out here besides creatures," He walked behind her "From what I can tell, there won't be any more anomalies like me out here." He turned to face her and looked her in the eyes.
Wouldn't it be safer to stay with another?
