Max was stunned by the lack of a mark. Realization washing over her, she looked at the other person in the room. "What's your power?" she asked, her mouth a thin line of disapproval as she flicked the lighter on and off.

"Did you know that your reflexes are controlled by your nerves?" Katia asked instead of answering.

"Did you know that doctors have to knock out burn victims to avoid them screaming in pain every moment they're awake?"
The lighter's flame danced back in forth, as if blown by a breeze.

"Did you know she doesn't have to feel pain?" Kumair said as he walked in. Katia laughed. "Giving birth was the hardest thing I ever did, because I couldn't just numb myself, because I had to be aware of it."

Maxine turned the lighter off and stuffed it in her pocket when Kumair came in. She figured the second in command deserved some respect in the form of her full attention. Max sighed, and looked down at her hands, wondering what it would take to make a person that couldn't feel pain scream.
"Anyway, what's this mission?" She looked back up at Kumair, tying her hair into a ponytail.

"We're going to attempt to spy on the hybrids," Kumair replied. "I'll explain more when the others get here." Katia sat back and waited. Just like her words, her posture showed minimal amounts of respect for Kumair. She even seemed to respect Maxine more than him.

"Spy?" Maxine moaned, and slumped in her seat, "Why can't we just kill some? Please? That's more exciting." She finished adjusting her hairstyle, and managed to get it into a neat ponytail with strands of hair framing her face. The pyro returned to flicking her lighter on and off, waiting for the others.

Kumair smiled. "That's why you've been selected. A group of six humans lost in the middle of a desert and just happen to find Area 50? It seems unlikely. If they suspect anything, it will become a battle."

Sorry I’m late. Finally finished… Immediately sensing the tension in the room, Hayden debated leaving at the same speed at which he came, but figured upon staying finally and prayed that this mission with them would not mean death by friendly fire. He was relatively tall and ate properly, what with being a med student at the time of being kidnapped… it also made him younger than most the others on the base, and with a kinder disposition, less used to death. Ah, ladies, I think it would be best to keep ourselves fully in tact before the mission begins. You know… to make my life easier. He smiled courteously, noticing Kumair again, who he figured had arrived not too long ago… he wasn’t familiar with any of them, as he mostly stayed cooped up in his room reading about various ailments and continuing his medical studies, not only on the idea that he might ever be released and sent back home, but also to better himself as the healer that he was. --- Noelia came after him a few minutes later, without apologizing but instead saluting the second-in-command. “Hey chief” she called, sitting up on one of the tables. Assessing the rest of her team, which seemed to be dominated by girls and a girly young man so far, she figured she’d stick with Kumair. She always kept a heavy gun to her side, seeming almost too much… but she knew well how to use it, and her power covered all problems naturally. Though, wearing jean shorts shorter than the actual length of her gun… well, that might’ve seemed a bit much. “Is Kat gonna explain the mission, or what?” her voice provoked a small Hispanic flair in some areas, though she might’ve seemed Caucasian. She was actually from Spain, making her deep red-brown hair seemingly uncommon… Hayden wrote her up as another difficulty, though saying nothing as their leader had arrived and would rather just stay silent. --- “Okay, so, if everyone’s here..." Katrina seemed considerably more serious than she had been before, marching over to the whiteboard in the room and proceeding to draw out the same map in the room based off memory. She preferred not to let everyone in on her power, or her identity, in case of rebellion... while she trusted these few a little more as she knew them by name, she would not make public displays of it whatsoever. "Kumair, would you like to explain, or should I go ahead?" drawing the same circles up with numbers, she proceeded to point to each of them and count them off individually. "One, two, three, four, five, six. Know your positions and those of your comrades. You'll need to know as well as the back of your hand. Also, know that Kumair has some authority in this specific mission, though I don't expect you laying your life on the line for him more than any other. Protect yourself first, and protect your whole self, this team, second. Individuals shall not be favored or disliked." she smiled, looking over to Kumair. "I hope that isn't a problem, comrade." She then looked over to the others with her similar calm expression and glazed over smile. "And with any of you. But you must all consider yourself one being, and I wouldn't have hand-chosen any of you if I knew you as the type to pick favorites. I assume you know each other's powers and can assess as a team those of you to be first and second string if necessary, and without argument?"

Maxine was about to respond to Kumair when someone walked in. She looked the newcomer up and down, and tried to recall if she had seen him before. After much mental digging, she decided she hadn't. About her age, he seemed to be a healer from his smart comment. Max leaned back in her chair, balanced precariously on the back legs and propping her own legs on the table. At least there would be someone to patch that other woman up if she pinched Max again...
The next person to walk in seemed like someone Maxine would get along with. Guns were always a good sign, and when they were bigger than the person's pants, they were a wonderful sign. Max smiled deviously.
Kat's voice sent a jolt through Maxine. She removed her feet from the table, and returned her chair completely to the ground. The lighter still didn't leave her hand, however, and she played with it under the table while Kat detailed the plan. The "individual first, team later" attitude of the mission appealed to her, though it would appeal more if she knew the details about her teammates.
"Uh." Max raised her hand, trying not to interupt Kat that much. "Don't know about you guys, but, I'm not all that knowledgeable about my teammates, in regards to their abilities." She put her hands on the table, still playing with the lighter.

“I’m… not really sure either.” Hayden chuckled lightheartedly, taking Zeus to be a rather carefree leader, and relieving some of the prior nervousness he’d had before. “I don’t think I’ve actually met any of them, except Mister Kumair, about five minutes ago.” He ruffled the back of his dirty blonde hair, his blue eyes shutting a bit when he smiled, looking at the floor. “I’ll try to remember, though.” “Yeah, me neither.” Though she knew Zeus and newly Kumair, the others were all foreign to Noel. “Alright, well… I guess we should go over that.” Katrina first motioned to herself. “I’m Project Zeus, the leader of Area 52. You all should know me already, but I thought it proper to say so. I won’t be going on this mission.” She held her hand out to Kuma, of whom she was most comfortable talking about of them. “This is Kumair, my partner or second-in-command. His power’s offensive, and he wields an invisible blade so to speak.” She then proceeded to introduce them in the order they were written up. “This is Katia. She has control over the nervous system, offensive and support, as she can both hurt as well as numb pain. Maxine is a pyro, or a controller of fire” she figured she should say something for those of whom English wasn’t their first language, her included. “Offensive, and so is our comrade here.” ((I can’t introduce them, as they’re an NPC for now. xD)) “Noel is offensive and support, as she controls sound waves. She will be able to silence her and your voices and movement, as well as the enemy, and can similarly control amplitude to blow out a person’s hearing enough to be fatal.” She smiled saying this, bringing a whole new lethal side to her that wasn’t easily seen. “And finally, this is Hayden. He’s fully support, and a healer. However, do note that, as a means of torture without death, his healing ability can prove useful." she paused, resting her hands back in front of her, one on top of the other, and stopping to look each of them in the eye, seriously. "I expect you to remember all of what I’ve said. Is that sufficient?”

"I believe so," Kumair said. He rubbed his bandaged arm absently. "It is nice to meet all of you, I do hope you'll put out everything you've got on this mission. If you don't have anything left to do, I'd like to leave as soon as possible." After he left Katia, he had gone to have some of the other gifteds prepare suplies. Katia didn't speak at all, but she noticed his arm. Odd. He never used to bandage his wounds. He hardly ever notices when he cuts himself anyway... Not since... Her thoughts dwindled.

Maxine absorbed everything Project Zeus had to say, critically looking over her teammates. None of them seemed to be strong in hand-to-hand combat, which worried her. How would ranged fighters deal with close-quarters combat? The flame of the lighter seemed to grow smaller as she pondered this.
"I can remember that," she said once Zeus finished. Max clicked the lighter off, and leaned back in her chair. Anyone sitting next to her would notice the air getting slightly warmer. "I'm ready when you guys are."

“Right now?” Hayden mumbled, still trying to keep straight who everyone was… why couldn’t they all have simpler names? Oh well. He was actually in the middle of a book, and repeated ’52, 52, 52’ in his head in attempt to remember the page. Not that he’d be back soon. “Sure, I’m ready.” “Yeah, me too.” Noel nodded, standing up from her chair. “I’m here, right?” she walked up to the board, putting her hand where Katrina had been erasing the board. “Yes. That’s not a problem, right?” Noel had actually done quite a few spy missions for her, and was used to being on the frontlines… she was an information specialist and she figured herself the most experienced in that type of thing. But she was set a bit further away this time, and it’d been itching at her. “Well, no, but…” “Good. Good luck, Noelia. Remember number two.” She held up a peace sign, smiling. “Keep the others safe.” “Yes, chief.” She grinned, taking Maxine by the arm and noting her temperature. It was close to home, though, and she didn’t mind. “We’re in close proximity, so we’re gonna be friends from now on, a’right? You’ll have to learn to trust me. I’m Noelia if you forgot.” Noticing Noel’s fierceness, Hayden figured that he should let himself fall behind either way… if anything she was only making enemies with Katia, who’d seemed to have been fighting with her earlier. So, he simply awaited further order. “You may leave. Take weaponry as you see fit, but nothing too obvious, frontliners. Good luck.” And saluting them, Katrina proceeded to erase the rest of the board.

Kumair glanced at the others. "Hayden, you should probably take a knife, at least," he said. "I don't care about the rest of you. Arm yourselves however you're comfortable, but don't bring more than a few items." As they were leaving the room, Katia ran her hand down Kumair's arm. "Get your nerves back, Ku?" she asked softly. Kumair shook his head.
Katia had two knives, but was otherwise unarmed. Kumair carried a pocketknife.
