A girl came up to them. "Pierce, you realize that gun she's holding is probably loaded, right?" she asked. She was also from Coates, and the uniform she still wore made it obvious.
Pierce shrugged. "Sure. I don't care. If she wants to live with the guilt of shooting me when I was only trying to help this kid, she can go right ahead, Aura."

"Go ahead and help him, like I said," Matt paused "If you wanna help him bring him to the day care I'd do it but.." she trailed off "This needs to be done," She kept her strong composer, she was younger so she didn't wanted to show weakness to them.

Pierce glared at her. "Aura will guard the store, she won't have to shoot anyone," he snapped. Aura grinned. "Give her the gun," Pierce ordered Matt. He lifted JJ into his arms.

"No," Matt said and looked at Pierce "I have no idea what gun training Aura has, I on the other hand have had a gun in my hand sense I was six. And what if she does have to shoot, she have perfect aim or what? I could hit his knee from a long distance, what will stop her, no offense to you Aura, from missing?"

There was an eerie silence about, and it was beginning to get to Lucy. Though she felt safe atop her brown and black horse Eon, it was still bothering her. No cars, no bustling streets, no buses; it was quieter than the farm at night. Even along the highway it was dead silent. The silence made it seem like they had been riding for days, but in reality it was barely a few hours.
"Remember the plan?"
Neil's voice interupted her reverie. Lucy looked to her left to see her twin brother seated atop his own horse, a sturdy one with a white blaze interupting his tan coat named Rocky. Neil looked back at her, his green eyes barely visible underneath his cowboy hat.
"Of course," Lucy replied with a nod, "I search for any others, you grab some things at the grocery store."
"All right." The town was coming closer by the moment. "We should split up now. One kid on a horse isn't too memorable, two seem like a threat."
Lucy agreed, and with a quick "hiyah!" was off deeper in the town. Neil adjusted his hat, and sauntered towards the grocery store.

"Because she won't shoot it. The point," Pierce said, annoyance hinting at his voice, "is that they see she has a gun and don't try anything. She can keep them out without it. Now give her the gun, get the medical kit, and show me where the damn daycare is."
Aura held out her hand for the weapon.
