Dear Trainer,
Congratulations!
You have been selected to participate in the two-week Grand Tournament! It is a special tournament only for those few trainers deemed worthy by the host. This letter is your invitation into the tournament; if you do not have it with you, you will not be allowed to compete. You can bring one companion. A companion is defined as a person that was not invited.
The tournament shall be held on Cherry Island, reachable by boat from Canalave City. On July 22nd, at noon, the SS Dianne will leave to Cherry Island, weather permitting, marking the first day of the tournament. Battles will begin on the fourth day at noon. If you are not at Cherry Island in the main hall by then, you cannot compete in the tournament. You will be given your own fully-furnished room, and free meals. As long as you watch your Pokemon, they are allowed out of their Pokeballs at all times.
As with all tournaments, the Grand Tournament has rules, and they are the following:
1. Trainers are allowed six Pokemon.
2. No switching out during battles. Baton Pass, U-Turn, etc. are also not allowed.
3. The Grand Tournament does not advocate the slavery or imprisonment of legendary Pokemon; therefore, no legends are allowed.
4. No items during the battles. Item usage in between battles is fine.
Further details are available upon request at Cherry Island.
We hope to see you there!
~~~~~ /OOC\ Now the un-fun part. 1) No power playing, godmoding, etc. Remember that your Pokemon aren't all powerful. 2) Re-read the last sentence. 3) Read the above sentence again. 4) Remember that moves miss, Pokemon faint, and you can't dodge every single move. Try to maintain a balance of missing and hitting. 5) Imply your attacks. Instead of saying "Pikachu hit Magikarp with Volt Tackle," say "Pikachu ran towards Magikarp covered in electricity" or something to that effect. Let the other person decide (or you two can decide together) if the attack hits or misses, but make sure they read rule number one. Try to start your post with your character receiving the letter, wherever they may be. Or start with a list. Both, preferably. 83 \OOC/
Ryuketsu Shedo was sitting out behind a pokemon center, His Honchcrow,which was a purple color rather than a dark blue and he also often called Raven instead since it seems to fit a female a bit better, was sleeping in his lap. His other pokemon were also enjoying a nap around him or relaxing being out of their pokeballs. He was reading through a letter he had recieved earlier and spoke," A Tournament? Sounds like fun doesn't it guys?" He gently brushed Raven and picked her up setting her down on the grass. He returned his other pokemon and called for Raven, who quickly flew after him. He went into the pokemon center and quickly changed into a new pair of clothes, black cargo pants, a gray shirt with a white overshirt, and a pair of black sneakers. He brushed his chin length brown hair back and changed out his contacts, they were clear so you could still see his naturally green eyes. Lastly he pulled on some black leather fingerless gloves, slung on his back pack and headed to a nearby port to Cherry Island.
They looked like lovers, cuddled into each other. A nearby bush rustled ever so slightly, and-- "HELLO! HELLO!" The frightened Zigzagoon yipped and fled without a second thought. The bush cursed, and gave birth to a very frustrated twenty-two year old holding a digital camera. A Flaaffy poked its head out from the bush, followed shortly by a Pikachu head and Pachirisu nose. The photographer looked up, and saw a Chatot perched on a branch. It opened its beak, letting a small envelope fall from its jaws to the forest floor. "Hello!" chirped the Chatot happily, "Hello-hello!" The photographer frowned, grabbed the envelope, and opened it. The Chatot flew away as he read it. "Hey," said the photographer, "Sabrina, check this out..." His Flaaffy and Pikachu withdrew back into the bush, while the Pachirisu scurried over to him, sniffing the envelope.
Chikorita (Overgrow): Razor Leaf, Poison Poder, Solar Beam, Leech Seed Alakazam (Synchronze): Phsychic, Phsycho Cut, Miracle Eye, Disable Tentacruel (Clear Body): Water Pulse, Acid, Bubblebeam, Wrap Quilava (Blaze): Quick Attack, Flame Wheel, Smoke Screen, Defense Curl Houndoom (Flash Fire): Thunder Fang, Bite, Ember, Roar Scyther (Swarm): Wing Attack, Slash, Quick Attack, Pursuit
Teale sighed, one finger sliding up and down the side of the invitation, just begging for a papercut. "Hey Haylee, Come here," She said to her first and favorite pokemon, whom Teale rarely ever confined to her Pokeball. "Looks like we've been invited to our first tournament," She smiled. "Finally. Those wimps in town were rather boring, wern't they? Even the gym leader..." "Chiko!" Haylee the Chikorita agreed. Pulling out some water, she allowed Haylee to suck from the bottle before throwing her Pokeballs out and watching her pokemon appear as she poured the remainder of the water into bowls for the rest of them to drink Scyther cried joyfully upon being released, rushing up to the water. The rest took their time. Alakazam sat in one place for a good minute before he went over to drink, and Quilava, though not taking a drink at all, hovered over a bowl for a moment or two before wandering off. Houndoom waited by her side for the others to inish before getting his own. "You guys are gonna need to be in great shape!" she cried. "If we're lucky the trainers there will be better than the pushovers here!"
Name: Sabrina Age: 16 Vulpix: (Flash fire) Ember, tail whip, roar Eevee: (Adaptability) Tackle, tail whip, helping hand, sand-attack
Sabrina followed her older cousin out of hiding, vulpix and eevee scampering over each other after her. "Yeah, James?" she asked him in her small soprano voice. While Sabrina was 16, she was extremely small; 5'3" and weighing in at a little less than 100 pounds. Her wavy black hair fell almost to her waist. She knelt beside James, reading the letter quickly. She was sometimes classified as a bookworm, but she was also very keen to be outdoors. However, her shy and quiet personality meant she hadn't spoken up and gotten a pokemon until recently and only because her father encouraged her to. She was very excited, to become a trainer, just not sure that she would be able to actually fight her pokemon. The thought of being in a violent position rather scared her. With a bit of determination, she had managed to battle and catch her eevee. Vulpix had been her starter pokemon and she loved him very much. "Oh, that's great, James!" she exclaimed. Then her expression turned worried. "I'm going to miss you so much. When are you going to leave?" she asked.
Pachririsu scampered up James' back, and clamored on top of his head, which provided a good vantage point for the short squirrel. Flaaffy pawed out of the bush, and cocked her head, wondering what James was up to. Pikachu grunted, and climbed nimbly on top of the bush.
"It says here you can take a person with you," he said, holding the letter close to read it. James looked up at Sabrina. "You wanna come with? It'll be on the twenty-second, which is... Tomorrow. Crap!" He stood up so fast that Pachirisu had to cling to his hair to hang on. "We're in Hoenn... Canalave's in Sinnoh!" James turned to Sabrina. "Did you bring a bike?"
Ryuk soon found himself in Canalave only to discover that the boat wasn't leaving until tomorrow, he shrugged and decided to look around town while he waited. He soon came across a trainer who wanted to battle him. He smirked and simply said," How many pokemon?" He nodded after hearing him say six and after the battle was over he only had to use two. He wondered if this was just a town trainer or someone else who was planning on going to the tournament, after shaking hands he checked into a nearby pokemon center and laid down on a bed.
Sabrina looked hesitant for a moment. "I don't go anywhere without my bike," she replied. "Well, not anywhere this far from home, at least... But you really want me to come?"
"All right, it's time to go!' teale called. "Return!" they all flew back into they're pokeballs except, of course, for Haylee. "Alright, let's head home," she said. Arriving home and grabbing her bike, she wheeled it out while several younger kids looked out in awe. She'd beaten them all at one time or another. Smiling she waved back at her city. "I'm heading off to the tournament!" she called to her admirers. "See you when I get back!" "Not so fast, Blue," A tall boy about eighteen was blocking her path when she turned to leave. "I don't have tiime for this Derek, I've got to get to the boat," Teale said tiredly to her cousin. "No way! I want to show you I'M the master of the Chikorita!" "Yours isn't even a Chikorita anymore!" she cried. "You evolved it into a Bayleaf, remember?" "And I'll prove to yoiuu my Bayleaf's better!" She sighed. "You up for one more battle?" she ased Haylee. "Chiko!" Haylee said with a swift nod. "Alright," Teale propped her bike against a tree. "Go, Haylee!" she called. Haylee bounded forwards. "Go, Lucas!" Derek cried, and his Bayleaf came out of the pokeball. "Sweet Scent!" As Haylee's evasiveness dropped, Teale sighed. "Haylee, Leech Seed!" "Aw no fair!" Derek cried as the Leech Seed stuck. "Lucas, Magical Leaf!" Teale sighed as Haylee was hit. "Derek, whats the point of lowering Haylee's evasiveness if you're going to use an attack you can't evade? Razor Leaf!" "Tackle!" "Poison Pwder!" "Growl!" "Razor Leaf!" And it was over. Derek's Bayleaf fainted. "No! Lucas!" He cried, crouching to see if he's alright. "Oh please Derek, I have to go," Teale said. She grabbed her bike, put Haylee in the wicker basket at the front, and pedaled to Canalave.
"It'll give you some good experience," James sighed, "A tournament like this is sure to attract experts that would be glad to give you some tips... I was probably given an invitation just to cover it, so we can both learn something from this." He glanced around, trying to remember where he hid his bike. Flaaffy, sensing her trainer's intentions, bleated and pointed towards the town, where James' bike was chained at the Pokemon Center.
"Oh, yeah. I knew that." Flaaffy rolled her eyes, and Pikachu made a noise vaguely resembling a snicker. The photographer turned to his cousin, and attempted to ignore the squirrel pulling out his hair.
"So, we could probably ride to Slateport, take a ship to Canalave, and arrive just in time for the boat to Cherry Island. The letter would've mentioned if you could get to the island from any other port, so I doubt Slateport would have a boat straight there. AH!" James winced, and grabbed Pachirisu. The blue squirrel held a fistful (consisting of a few strands, considering her small hands) of his hair, and had a victorious expression as James returned her to her Pokeball. He rubbed his head while he continued talking. "We should get going. Need to do anything before we leave?"
Sabrina laughed, her soft green eyes sparkling. "I don't have anything to do. We should hurry so we don't miss the boat. That would be bad," she said. "Eee," Eevee agreed. Vulpix wagged his tail in the air, then raced in circles around the two of them. Eevee proceeded to tackle him, using her small paws to playfully push him over. Sabrina smiled at them.
"Definitely," confirmed James, smirking. He wasn't very excited at the prospect of racing from their current location to Slateport and spending the better part of their day seasick, but, anything for a good picture, right? "Just let me pack up my camera," he said, reaching into the bush and pulling out a backpack-esque camera bag.
As he was carefully inserting his camera into it, Flaaffy decided she wanted to play with Eevee and Vulpix. The miniature sheep leaped onto Eevee, Flaaffy's supercharged fur rubbing against Eevee's to produce sparks. It wasn't enough to hurt the fox, but it would provide quite a shock. (pun intended) Pikachu sighed, and took the time Flaaffy was distracted to climb onto James' shoulder.
"There." Jamison stood up, and slung the bag over his shoulder. "I'll race you to the Pokemon Center!" Without another word, he ran towards the town, knowing Flaaffy would catch up eventually.
Eevee jumped, trying to throw Flaaffy off, while Vulpix nipped playfully at Flaaffy's ears. "Vulpix, Eevee, come on!" Sabrina called, racing after James. Vulpix's ears perked up, then he ran after his trainer, yipping, "Vul, vul!" "Eeeveeee!" Eevee protested.
Flaaffy tumbled off of Eevee, and shook her head when Vulpix nipped at her ears. Sparks flew off of her, signaling she was preparing for some sort of electric attack, when she realized that James was leaving her. Bleating madly, she ran after him. Pikachu taunted the sheep from James' shoulder by sticking out his tongue.
James looked as if he were about to collapse when he reached the Pokemon Center. Panting, he leaned against the building, and glanced over to the bike rack. His bike was still there, along with Sabrina's. Flaaffy and Pikachu scrambled into the basket on the back, trying to push the other out.
"To Slateport," James said after regaining enough oxygen to speak. He unlocked the padlock chaining his bike to the rack, and got on, gripping the handle bars like a Motocross racer waiting for the starting buzzer.
Sabrina got there right behind James, kneeling next to her bike as she caught her breath and put in the combination for the bike lock. Vulpix stood with his paws against the wires on the front tire, contemplating how he would get up to the basket. Eevee charged after them, the last in the running. When she caught up, she climbed over Vulpix and up to the basket. "Vulpix!" the small red fox cried. Sabrina picked him up and placed him next to Eevee, then got on the bike, almost beating James as first on their transportation unit. She kicked off, pedaling towards Slateport.
