Jared walked back through the trees. "Alright, enough with the games Rick, what's really going..." He trailed off in shock when he saw the Guard.
Yazmins face relaxed the tinest fraction. "How do you know my name, agent?" she barked. She tried to remember if she'd seen this agent before.

"I'm sorry you don't believe your friend when he says we're helping. That is our job, you know," 3952 told him, walking towards the gate.

"No, no... that wasn't what I..." Jared trailed off. What he wnted to say was Normally you Guards are so wrapped up in your own jobs you don't bother with a few stray kids, but it seemed impolite, somehow. I mean, these guuys DID save the city from ilfatration on a daily basis.

“Yazmin, it’s me Theo. I’m in disguise because the Guard tried to kill me when I wouldn’t join.” he says in an unthreatening way. Then moves his stance to one that would show he didn’t want to fight.

He rejected? And survived? She knew they'd wanted Theo. He could shapeshift and was a killer actor already. He knew how to stretch his power further than many shapeshifter in town. He was their next prize. "How did you...?" she trailed off, changing from an offensive mask to a shocked one seamlessly.

“Remember how I told you about that time before I came to the city and Agents attacked me? And how I fooled them by playing dead?” he asks her. He looks around to be sure no one is listening in on them.

No. No, she did not. It was an unneccessary memory, something she'd been taught to lock away. But now she tried to call it up, attempting to remember. Then she did, it unlocked itslef. Well, she'd already known her training worked this wasn't much of a victory...
"Yeah. You pulled the same trick? On the Guards?" She sounded disbelieving.

“Yes I did, I totally did. They bought it thankfully.” he says. He looks off to the side thinking he saw something, but it was just a squirrel. “Probably because I never told anyone else about that ability, and I didn’t use it since getting to the city. So they didn’t know about it.” he says calmly coming to the conclusion.

"Come on," 3952 called.
Adam sat on his porch, leaning against the side of his home. He was quietly singing a song to himself. Anyone farther than his yard would be unable to catch even the loudest parts of it. In fact, anyone farther than the porch would have a hard time making out any of it. Those who were close enough would concern only a jumbled mix of words and phrases that would seem to point to insanity to anyone who didn't know the sixteen-year-old personally, and even then it seemed quite possible Adam was crazy. Anyone who did would know that Adam spent most of his free time singing random words that connected to his past. Only when someone requested a song would he actually sing anything that made any bit of sense to anyone but himself. "Disappeared, taken, gone," Adam sung. "Connected. Telepathy."
When Atropine made it home, he would discover his family had been robbed. His mother killed by the one who had done it. His father was home, wishing something – anything – else could have happened.

Yazmin nodded, not knowing what the best thing to say in this position was. she heard voices in the trees, to faint for anything but trained or hyper-sensitive ears.
"Alright, let's go," Rick said, looking to the Guard to lead the way.
((Run into Yazmin and Theo! That should be fun!))

After a while, 3952 began to discern voices through the trees, much too quiet for Rick or Jared to hear. He didn't particularly want to run into any more distractions, but if it were the agents, it could be important, so he kept heading toward them, altering his direction only slightly. And then he saw them. Yazmin and some man he didn't know. What is she doing here? And who is she talking to? he wondered, creeping closer.

Atropine limped the rest of the way home, he'd have to return the book in the morning but when he came to his house he nearly dropped it before running in, using a modified poison to make his damaged leg numb, no doubt it would hurt even more in the morning after exerting it. "What happened?" He then found the corpse of his mother and fell to his knees. "Who could have done this..."

"They don't know," his father replied, shaking slightly. "Where have you been?"

Maxwell senses that someone is nearby. He decides to stop talking, to avoid blowing his cover. “Oh great, what now?” he thinks stressed. He wanted to look in the direction of where he thought they were but avoided doing so.

"I was going after a thief... this town's full of them it seems...I hope they at least had the decency to kill mother quickly and painlessly... I need to find out who took her life as soon as possible." His face became grim.
