((There is a river not too far from their town with a small bridge that crosses it before heading off into the trees towards a small castle (England has lots of these). The bridge for the road is far enough away that most people stay away from the foot bridge.))

Rhyme arrived at the foot bridge, in a complete daze. He snapped out of it the moment he saw a figure standing atop the bridge.

Kat, who was wearing a long cloak turned away from the horizon and the river to look at Rhyme. "Hello," she said, just loud enough for him to hear.

Kat tilted her head. "Why would you believe I would wish to kill you?" she asked, though she was just playing now. She was curious.

Rhyme threw a punch at Kat's face, all his emotion channeled into the single action.

Kat was caught off guard and his fist made contact with her cheek. She tried to move away, but ended up tripping. She used one hand to catch her fall and the other arm curled around her stomach.

Yami watched from the bushes as Kat fell to the ground. It hit Yami as she saw her protect her stomach. 'Of course,' she thought. She wanted to run out there and protect him. It wasn't like she could loose anything else besides..no, she couldn't.

Rhyme looked down at Kat, barely registering what he had just done. His mouth was open, about to speak, when--
ba-dum
"--Kaitlynn Woods."
ba-dum
His eyes glazed over, and his voice became monotone. "Reagan Sterling."
ba-dum
"Hikari Yoru."
ba--
Rhyme fell to his knees, clutching his chest. It felt like his heart was about to explode out of his chest. He let out a grunt of pain, and fell forward.
"K-Kat..." His voice became a whisper. "Fuck you..."
And Rhyme was dead.

She couldn't handle it "Rhyme!" She screamed as she ran to her love, his heart now stopped. She kneeled next to him and stroked his hair. "Rhyme.." she choked out

Kat pushed herself to her feet, looked down at Rhyme's body, and blew a kiss. "Goodbye, Reagan, I will always keep my promise, even if you did not. And I promise the world will remember you as a good man, no matter what happens," she said. Silent tears ran down her cheeks. She didn't even notice Yami at first. Then she blinked. "Reagan would not have wanted me to harm you. Do not make me." She turned away and started walking back to Wammy House.
