"That doesn't surprise me," Blue laughed. Gosh, who knew she was so starved for some decent human conversation. She spotted something red, a contrast to the greens and browns everywhere else. "Whats that?" she said, pointing to the red thing by the old sign "Did you see it whenm you came out?"

[Rachel]

Velvet glanced over. "No..." she said, confused. She went over to the sign. "It's... an apple core." She frowned as she beckoned Blue over. "It mightn't have caught my eye," she said, picking it up by the stem.

[Raven]

Katia saw the two others on the lawn. "Oh, Blue!" she called, waving. She jogged over to the girl.

"Velvet, it's red. If you didn't see it, I would've" she said skeptically as she looked at it. There was something about this apple core that was nagging at her, something she'd forgotten. Teale frowned. This was annoying her. She hated not being able to remember something. "If you didn't see it, I would've" was what she had said, but something in her memory was changing the words, soething that often happened when theres a wordf or phrase she had to remember. In her mind, she could hear "If do you no see it, I would've" and that WASN'T what she'd sad. so where'd the do you know come from? Something about the previous Kira case? Maybe something she'd heard in history class?

"I've got to go," she said, taking her hand off the Apple core and started running back into the orphanage, not really caring if Velvet followed her or not. She would go to the library and find the History textbook they always used. She would read the whole biased thing from front to back if she had too, to find out what this was she was thinking of.

Then she heard another voice and turned. It was cat. "Oh not now," she barely whispered. "Hey Cat," she said in a normal tone

[Rachel]

Velvet looked at Blue in shock... "Okaaay," she said, dropping the apple core. She went back to where her shoes were, looking up at Kat. "Uhh, hi," she said, collapsing onto the grass. "Is it just me or is she a little strange?"
She had just... left. Perhaps it was the arrival of Kay, she didn't know. She shrugged, leaving the matter.

[Raven]

"I was thinking the same thing... What do you suppose she's doing?" Kat asked her. "Do you know where that apple core came from? How did it get there?"

[Rachel]

"I have no idea..." Velvet replied, frowning. She smiled at Kat, extending her hand. "I'm Velvet, by the way. It couldv'e been just... sitting there and we're all blind." She didn't believe what she was saying, though.

Teale, after the initial hello, completley ignored Cat and ran right inside. Dashing to the library, she yanked the first textbook off the shelf, sat down, opened it, and began to read

When Kira first made his presence known to the Japanese public, infamous detective L, who's sacrafice will be remembered for for generations to come, took up the case. But Kira proved a difficult opponent to beat. while In the first face off L managed to trick Light Yagami into revealing his location and proving his existance, Kira struck back, Defferring the investigation by several days as L attempted to decipher a code in the suicide notes which, in turn, proved to be the meaningless and absolutley irrelevant phrase "L do you know? Gods of Death love apples," Kira also managed to recieve information that was never released to the public, which we now know was because the evil Kira, a disgrace to any father, was none other than the son of Lead Investicator and Police Cheif-

L do you know? Gods of Death love apples! THATS what she was trying to remember!
The apple core had appeared out of nowhere. Gods of death love apples...Kira... was this a sign? was there a new Kira?
No she was being ridiculous. That wasn't how things worked. But stilll....

[Raven]

"I doubt it," Kat said, already planning how she would need to appear to get close to Blue, Rhyme, and possibly Velvet. This core was only proof to her theory that someone had received a notebook. "It's nice to have met you, Velvet. I'm Kat."

[Rachel]

"You also, Kat," Velvet said with a nod. "You were in the library, weren't you?" She thought she recognised the girl's face. Still pondering the apple core, she frowned. Shrugging, she smiled, looking back at Kat.

[Raven]

"Yeah, that was me," she said, blushing slightly. "Always the bookworm. Hehe."

[Rachel]

Velvet laughed. "Hey," she said, grinning, "Being a bookworm isn't /that/ bad. I like books a lot." She nodded. "What was it that you were reading?" She had seen the cover of the book but decided to ask her anyway, just to see what she said.

She gritted her teeth. SHe was being completley illogical. Signs didn't appear. Things didn't randomly fall out of the sky. It wasn't possible.
Except.....
Shinigamis wern't technically possible either. Heck, the whole idea of a notebook that kills people was imposible. But that was what Kira had been using. And didn't L himself talk to a Shinigami? She flipped through the textbook. Yes there was a reference to a Shinigami, and even a picture as one of the investigators had seen it. The Kira case was impossible.

She had to believe impossible didn't exist anymore.In which case, this could be a sign. Or more likley... What if a Shinigami had dropped it?
That made alot more sense. Who said Shinigamis couldn't fly? If one had been flying over Whammy house as she and Velvet were out there and dropped the apple core...

Velvet! Teale bit her lip. Runing off like that probably didn't look too good.
Oh well. Maybe Seven would be able to draw something from this crazy mess. She checked out the txt book, closed it, and left the library, walking down the hall towards her room.

[Raven]

"I was reading about the Kira case, why?" Katia looked completely calm, but she didn't feel that way. She felt like she might explode. She really had to talk to someone about this, but who could she trust?

[Gifted]

"Seven," she said as she strode into her room.
"You haven't called me that in a long time, Blue. Not since circles-"
"Don't talk about circles okay!" Teale snapped. "I need your help as a Whammy, not as my annoying brother,"
Stephen nodded and swiveled his chair around, looking away from the computer monitor at last. "Alright, what is it?"
Teale told him everything. The apple core, the wordplay, the textboo, her theories. she needed SOMEONE to put some sort of sanity in this mess.
When she finished, his expression hadn't changed. "you know you look like Kira in their eyes," he said.
"huh?" Teale had been suspecting she'd look odd, but like Kira? There was her outburst in the bathroom earlier today, but she'd thought she'd dodged that particular bullet. How would anything else she'd done atoumatically point to Kira? And besides she hadn't said anything about that, only if her theory made sense. But she should've known that this was how Seven worked. He'd pull out tottally irrelevant things and get to the point in his own time. And his specialty was the thoughts of those around him. He could get inside peoples heads like nobodys buissness.
"Think about it. This Cat, she heard you in the washroom right? Andyou admit you may have sounded like someone who supports Kira?
"Well, yeah, but She didn't hear the exact words, only my tone. And she believed my excuse when I gave it to her,"
"So she says," Seven replied. "And then you ran off o Velvet the moment Cat showed up, like your worried about being around her,"
Teale gasped. she'd run because of the apple and the library. She never thought about how it would look to Cat! And right now, she could be telling Velvet everything!
"and then, if Velvet gets her hands on that book, she will also see the connection between the Apple Core and Kira,"
"Which will clear my name!" Teale grinned.
"No, Blue. It will only make you look more suspicious," Seven sighed, turning back to his computer. "Because you ran off the moment something to do with Kira was found. You look scared. And as for your theory, thats your area of expertise. I trust whatever you think,"
Blue sighed. All that and he couldn't even awnser her question. Instead he'd given her something new to worry about. "Thanks, Stephen," she muttered. His real name indicated the serious conversation was over. She walked out of the room and shut the door behind her. She sat down whith her back against the wall next to her room. What was she gonna do now?
