Jamie bent over and sat her Rattata down. "This is just Rattata." She said as the little pokemon nommed at her shoelaces. And with a mighty pull, Rattata pulled Jamie off balance and Jamie hit the ground.

After seeing Jamie fall, Hale rushes toward her. "Are you ok?" he asked.

Jamie was blushing hard in embarassment "I'm fine... Rattata just wants attention..." she frowned, petting the pokemon.

"He is a cute one isn't he?" Hale said, scratching Rattatta's ears. "Your ok right? Do you need any help?"

Jamie held up her small bag. "This is all I'll ever be needing, so in other words, yes." she picked up Rattata, walking beside Hale.

Miles watched this curious little creature with ever increasing fascination. "Wow, you sure can eat, can't you?" He asked the little Riolu. Miracle was far too busy devouring the bowl chock full of fruits to pay attention. Hmm, raise this cute little thing for almost two months, and he's just now hitting his growth spurt? Miles thought. His amazement was only furthered when Miracle finished the bowl, jumped off the table, and raided the cupboard full of pastas. Miles considered stopping him, but he knew Miracle would eat too much and get a stomach ache, so he decided to let Miracle continue to teach him a lesson. Miles proceeded to take an empty pokeball from his belt and look it over. Well, training on dummies and mannequins is one thing, but I think Miracle is ready to go head to head with another pokemon. Miles put the ball back on his belt, and tapped Miracle's shoulder to get his attention. Miracle paused for a moment, looked up at Miles, then put the uncooked pasta he hadn't eaten back into its container. Miles giggled, and said, "You're not gonna starve to death, you know that right?" Then returned Miracle into his pokeball. He walked out the front door and breathed in the fresh sea air. After a short jog to the beach, he let Miracle out and instructed him to sit next to him. He then pulled out his trusty fishing rod and cast out as far as he could. After a short wait, there was a sharp tug on the line. Miracle jumped up and yelped with excitement. Miles fought the catch and easily reeled it in, only to find a Magikarp on his line. The Magikarp struggled and flopped around until it fell off the line, and thudded onto the sand. Miles sighed, disappointed yet unsurprised. He regained his enthusiasm and shouted, "Miracle, attack with Force Palm!" The Magikarp gave a little hop before Miracle dashed at it, and Force Palm struck the Magikarp into unconsciousness. Miles repeated this process several times, defeating what seemed like dozens of Magikarp, on the brink of giving up. "If this isn't a pokemon worth catching on this cast, I'm done for the day." He mumbled as he cast once more. It seemed the pokemon was eager to be caught, however, as a bite occurred as soon as the bob hit the water. Miles once again reeled with all his might and found a Chinchou on the end of his line. "Yes!" Miles exclaimed as the wild pokemon leaped from the hook to the sand. "Miracle, use Force Palm!" Miracle charged forward, but this little Chinchou had superior speed, and attacked him with Thundershock before Miracle could get close enough to strike first. Miracle took the jolt, but was still up and running, and he successfully landed a Force Palm strike on the Chinchou. As Miracle retreated back for another battle command, Miles thought, This Chinchou is much quicker, so... "Miracle, prepare to Counter!" Miles shouted. Miracle drew into a focused stance and waited for his opponent's attack. Chinchou bounced and skipped forward with surprising speed, glowering with electricity, and struck Riolu with a solid Spark attack, but Miracle struck back with an uppercut twice as punishing. Chinchou gained a nasty bruise from this attack and was almost down for the count. "Your mine now!" Miles exclaimed as he threw a pokeball with all his might at the bewildered pokemon. Sure enough, the Chinchou warped into the pokeball, and the item gently landed on the sand. It glowed and shook a little, a little longer, but in the point that looked as if Chinchou was caught, the ball stopped shaking and started to pop, but Miracle pounced on it and held the pokeball closed until it made the satisfying *ding* noise, signifying a successful capture. Miracle held the pokeball up to Miles. Miles slowly grabbed it and held it high in the air, exclaiming, "Alright! We caught a Chinchou!" Miles then crouched down to Miracle. "Gimme a high-five, my little fighter!" With a small hop, Miracle slapped Miles open hand. Now that's two pokemon I get share my life with. Spectacular. He thought to himself.

Amusement. Yet another outstanding quality of these two. Miles thought. He watched as Miracle and his recently caught Chinchou, nicknamed Buoy, continued to push each other away as they attempted to get at an untouched pear. "Rio!" squealed Miracle as he hit the ground. He quickly got up and butted Buoy away. "Chou!" shrieked Buoy as he flew away. Miles jumped between them before Buoy could retaliate once again, and took the pear from Miracles paws. He walked over to the table and cut the pear in half, handing one half to each. They both "graciously" accepted the halves and proceeded to wolf them down. He then went into his room and took his geography books from his bag. Miles wasn't the most "academic" pupil, but he did have a certain intrigue in studying the history, mythology, and geography of the Sinnoh region for reasons unknown. He looked at a rough political map of Sinnoh and started to memorize the major cities for his upcoming test. As he traced the pages with his finger, he paused over a coastal city that peaked his interest. Sunyshore City? Why does that seem familiar? Have I studied Sinnoh geography before today's lesson? He pondered. Miles stared intensely at the map, then relaxed and grinned. Sunyshore sounds like a wonderful place to go... Miles's fantasies quickly dissipated and he hurriedly finished his studying. He then walked back into his aunt's living room, where Miracle and Buoy were peacefully napping. He whistled, shocking them awake, and said to them, "Alright, you two are overdue for a little check-up." Miles took out both their pokeballs and warped them in. After a quick jaunt to the Pokemon Center, he entered only to find a squadron of Poke'Control attempting to calm a thrashing Gulpin locked in a cage. Miles gave the pokemon a wide berth and went to the counter. "Um, I have a check-up appointment scheduled for my two pokemon." He stuttered to the nurse running the counter. "Alright, hand them here." The nurse asked in her polite and shining voice. Miles handed her the pair of pokeballs and turned toward the fray. He marched forward and demanded of the squad members, "Why is this poor thing in a cage?" One member replied, "This troublemaker was caught devouring the stocks of groceries in the market. It is far too dangerous to ignore, so it must be kept here for the safety of Lilycove's residency." Miles pushed aside one of the squad members holding the cage down and stared at the Gulpin. It ceased its thrashing, and looked up at Miles. Miles beamed with joy when his idea struck him. "Let this poor Gulpin out of the cage, and I will personally take care of it." Miles announced. The squad had many doubtful faces, but several simply shrugged and they all silently agreed to give the Gulpin to Miles. When the cage opened, Gulpin surged out and jumped to Miles. Giggling, he took out an empty pokeball and warped Gulpin into it. Incredibly, the ball did not wobble or glow, it simply *dinged* and Gulpin was caught. Even so, Miles held the ball high and exclaimed triumphantly, "I have now caught a Gulpin!" The squad members blinked a few times, then picked up their cage and headed out the door. Miles's beaming face turned to a small frown. He walked back over to the counter, and asked the nurse, "So, did you see any of that?" She answered, "Yes, and that was very kind of you for helping that poor little pokemon. Ahh! Here you are, sir, your pokemon. They are in peak physical condition and are glowing with health! Good day to you!" Miles said back, "And a good day to you too!" As he marched out the door, proud and exhilarated.

Where there is light, it casts shadows, and from those shadows, mysteries are found. Mysteries, always intrigued him, and so he went out in search of them now. Everything made him curious, then again, most children seem to be intrigued easily, he was no different. His home was Unova, however he didn't stay there long. His first friend, was a scared little ghost. The others he grew up with were scared of it, harassing it daily. It was a ghastly, in Unova that was certainly rare, but was even more rare was the cold blue glow around it. He however, approached it calmly, and when he became a trainer, this little ghost was his first companion. He traveled, not spending the time to test himself against gyms, he was more concerned about discovering more things, ignoring battles he deemed "uninteresting". His entire band of friends, were all an inquiry he had, and they joined him, quickly growing in power and more importantly knowledge. Ethan had been a trainer for 2 entire years, and yet he had only six Pokemon to his name, he was not at all concerned with catching any more. These six companions will be there with him forever as far as he was concerned, learning more and more every day as he grew. Now he found himself once again, intrigued, after witnessing a boy who had a Pokemon hatch in his very lap. Since he saw that, slowly stalking him, Ethan watched as the young boy developed bonds with his Pokemon, and grew with them, much like her grew with his own. Now, that very boy seemed to be in a spot of trouble, adjusting his white beanie, and brushing down his matching pants, he decided to finally confront Miles, Smiling widely from beneath his cotton covering. His shadow, a faint blue glow around it, seemed to tilt slightly, a section opening up, to imitate Ethan's eyes and friendly, perhaps too friendly, grin.

Hoenn may be your home, but you must take heart and come to the shoreline. I shall provide to you transport, and your three pokemon shall accompany you. The sea shall guide you, do not fear the water. Miles awoke, but not with his usual reaction to the ominous voice in his dream. He rose from bed as if still sleeping, then dressed himself with unusual haste. He gathered all his possessions, crammed them into his pack, then put on his belt with all six pokeballs strapped on, three empty along with Miralce, Buoy, and the newly nicknamed Chomps sleeping soundly within. He opened and closed the door silently, disappearing without a trace. He walked to the shore, as if he was still dreaming, and saw a Gastrodon beckoning him. He began to walk toward it, but he then began to fight his trance. He dropped to the sand, and when he truly awoke, the Gastrodon was gone. Whatever force was controlling him, even for that short time, it had full and unbridled dominion. He felt like a puppet, a marionette. Who was doing this.... What was doing this to me? Where would I be if I went to that pokemon and climbed aboard? What would have happened? He felt faint. Never before had fear been triumphed by exhaustion in his mind, and he fell back down onto the sand. He slept once more, too tired to worry about anything until sunrise.

Miles continued his training, becoming closer to his pokemon everyday. A Riolu he had raised since birth, a Chinchou who was eager to battle him, and a wild Gulpin that sought sanctuary from imprisonment. Now, he regularly fought wild pokemon and trained his pokemon. Now, he came upon an unusual foe. "Halt! Why are you snooping around private property? That's trespassing!" A great brute of a guard yelled at Miles. "Uh-oh." Miles attempted to back away. "Not so fast! Wartortle! Get him!" He bellowed. He threw a pokeball forward and released an angry Wartortle. "Attack with Crunch!" Miles grabbed at the first pokeball he touched and threw it forward, releasing Chomps. "Chomps, use Sludge!" Miles yelped. Before Chomps could attack, Wartortle bit down hard and swift on him. Barely flinching from the attack, Chomps released a stream of toxic sludge, coating Wartortle. The Wartortle accidentally inhaled and swallowed some of the Sludge, causing it to faint then and there. The guard, fuming, withdrew Wartortle and threw out another pokeball, in the same instance Miles withdrew Chomps and sent out Buoy. "Destroy this wimp, Dewgong!" The guard exclaimed. "Attack with Aurora Beam!" The Dewgong's horn gained an icy glow, but Miles knew Buoy was faster. "Buoy, use Thundershock!" Buoy sent forth a glorious bolt of electricity that struck the Dewgong hard. The Dewgong's skin twitched and its eyes narrowed. "Alright! Paralyzed!" Miles exclaimed. "Quick, use Spark!" Buoy charged forward, and zapped Dewgong with a punishing tackle. Dewgong was fried into unconsciousness with that attack, and the guard withdrew Dewgong. "Had enough?" Miles smirked. Buoy seemed to be laughing with him. The guard fled into the woods he was apparently keeping watch over without a word. Miles snickered to himself. "Good work, Buoy." He said as he warped her back into the pokeball. He then stared at the treeline the guard retreated behind. Who would post a guard in front of a hidden estate, anyway? Is Team Aqua or Team Magma on the rise once more, or is this someone new? Miles thought. He didn't like the feeling that a new threat was rising, especially one that was coming unannounced. Not at all.

Izzy slid along the ground, leaving an almost imperceptible trail of pink slime behind it, as Joseph wandered through the city. He was used to quaint little towns, not gigantic metropolises. It would be a lot simpler if somebody put up arrows saying "this way to the next city," or something similar.
There was a van parked outside of Jubilife TV station with a few people that looked like they knew where they were. He walked up to them, still clutching the folded map like a confused tourist. "Erm," he said, "excuse me..." He noticed the Pokeballs on their persons too late, and hoped they wouldn't challenge him to a battle.

Miles looked at the skimpy meal he had prepared himself, suddenly no longer hungry. He had to discuss this with someone. Not his pokemon, not the authorities. Someone... "What was my cousin's name again? The one in Sinnoh?" He asked himself. Miles tapped his fingers on the table, and jumped up. "Joseph! His name was Joseph! I think..." He scratched his head, trying to remember his cousin's cell number. He then snatched the phone and cautiously dialed the number, unsure if it was correct. Then he waited, a ringing in his ear.

Joseph's cell phone buzzed in his pocket. He quickly excused himself from the strangers with a "Never mind, sorry I bothered you," and glanced at the caller ID. It was Miles. The last time he had talked to him was... a long time ago, if Joseph recalled correctly. What did he want now? Izzy made faces at random Pokemon as Joseph answered.
"Y'ello?" Joseph said into the phone, "'sup, Miles?"
