Raven got up and crept down the ladder on her bunk bed, then out the door, making sure it didn't creak. Her first misstep was on the stairs outside Crow's room, where the floor squeaked. She winced slightly, but kept going. She was out the door in no time.

Hearing a slight noise Crow stirred in his sleep, laying there for a minute he decided to see what made the noise. He stretched and stood up, quietly walking out of his door and looked around.

Raven quickly walked down the street, but decided to stop for a while to see if, first, anyone was following her, and second, to decide what she'd do next. She walked a while longer, then paused and hid herself in the bushes.

Walking around a bit more a cold breeze flowed into the room, shivering Crow noticed the front door slightly open. He walked outside and looked around trying to see who went outside.

Raven held her breath as footsteps came close. She couldn't make out much in the dark, but since the form looked male, she guessed it was Crow. Maybe it was a trick of the shadows, but he certainly looked too big to be her brother.

Crow heard another noise and started walking towards it, cautiously. He had his first cell phone in his pocket, it wasn't much but it was a phone.

Raven decided she would end up making a noise at some point, so she spoke. "Go away, Crow," she hissed. The man turned to face her and the street light that was a ways away. It was definitely not Crow. She let out a choked scream as the man grabbed her upper arm. She wasn't strong enough to pull away, but she still tried.

He heard Raven's voice followed by a scream, looking around he sawa man grabbing her. He looked at him with hate and picked up a piece of wood off the ground and ran at him swinging it at his head and yelling," Let my Sister go!"

Crow's plan almost worked, the man threw his arms up to block, letting Raven go in the process. Unfortunately, he had a pocket knife. Raven fell back into the bushes, scraping her hands.

The board broke on impact and Crow landed on the ground, the phone was dialling the police. He looked up at the man and threw some dirt at him, looking for another weapon on the ground.

"Get lost, punk," the man snarled. Raven threw a rock at his head, but it didn't make contact. "Leave us alone!" she shouted. The man ignored her.

Scrambling around Crow picked up a discarded spade from the ground and lunged at the man again. The spade was about an inch away from the man's arm.

The man flicked his hand, making a long slice in Crow's left cheek. Then he winced as the spade hit him. "Get out of here, before you get even more beat up," he threatened.

Crow winced in pain, the cut was deep. He looked at the man and smirked as the sounds of sirens and the flashing blue and red lights came out from behind the man. The wound on his cheek was bleeding now as he went over to his sister and hugged her.

Raven was breathing hard as the man glared at Crow, then turned as fled.
