Lulu looked pleadingly at her door. A window was at the very top, too far up for her to see out of. Mr. Snuffles was in the corner, arms crossed.
"Hello?" called Lulu, trying to be heard through the concrete door, "Hello? Mr. Snuffles and I need to go to the bathroom... Please?" She paused, and looked back at her stuffed elephant. "Mr. Snuffles needs to go really badly. Pretty please? Mr. Snuffles says he can't hold it."
Kendal looked at the blood on the floor. He couldn't stick his tongue far enough out of the mask. If only it was a bit longer, he could get at it. The vampire futilely tried to extend his tongue through the thin gap in his mask.

The nurse smiled. "Kartala, can you let go of me for a moment so I can come and sit down?" she asked him.

Kartala uncurled himself and wormed around, stopping in the middle of the room, he was waiting for the nice lady to feed him.

"Excuse me, may I go outside? Into the courtyard?" Judith asked, smiling pleasently at one of the nurses. "Of course but be careful," The nurse replied. "Don't worry, I'm always careful with Mary," Judith's smile faded. "But I'm worried about Hilary," "Don't worry," Said the nurse soothingly. "With you and us together, I'm sure we can protect Hilary," Judith smiled sheepishly. "I guess you're right. Thanks," "No problem Judith," The nurse smiled and went to unlock the door outside. "See you in a little while, Judith," "You too! Hilary may want to come outside too, she loves fresh air," When the nurse frowned she added quickly "Mary won't though, she doesn't like outdoors too much..." The nurse sighed. "See you in a little while, Judith," she said exastperated as Judith went out and looked at the trees and flowers. Judith loved nature.
Laura sighed, wishing she had somewhere else to go except this plain, white room. She went up to a long, narrow window next to the plain white door and peered through. One of the nurses was hanging a painting. The picture showed a long field of dry grass, and a wooden house in the distance, covered in grime and soot. Though it was a very nice painting, the sight of it set Laura's heart pounding. Suddenly, she was back in her home, just waking up and already fighting the flames. She was sprinting to her brothers room, pounding on the door. She could almost feel the heat of the fire, smell the ash. All things that would go up in a fire. All things that would burn. When the flashback ended She was huddded in the corner. But the room was in flames. It was definatley not a flashback this time. The fire was licking up the white walls and devuring them. It began to burn around her bed, sorrounding it. She ran to the door, trying to avoid the flames. The fear causedb by the flashback had caused her to lose control of her power again. She screamed and banged her fists on the door She was still screaming when the nurses and doctors cam in. One stayed in the hall, scolding the woman who had put the picture up, while the others jabbed a needle in Laura's arm and subjected her to hours of drug induced darkness.

Zachy was laying on the ground. Spread around him were many markers for him to color with, for his pencils had been taken away after he was once again put on suicide watch. you could draw much with huge bulky markers but he was able to draw patterns in beautiful lines and designs.

The nurse sat next to Kartala. "You'll be a good boy if I take off your mask, right?" she asked.

Kartala nodded a few times his eye were wide and bright like a puppies and his tongue was pressed against the small grate slightly.

The nurse smiled and took the muzzle off. "You are a good boy today, aren't you?" She took the spoon and held it, filled with soup, to his mouth.

Sabina was eyeing the nurse that had come to bring her food. She was starting to drool, but not because of the food. Knowing that she wouldn't get what she really wanted, she looked out her small window to try and distract herself. The nurse tried to make small talk and ask her questions like "How are you today?" or "Isn't it nice outside?" When Sabina didn't respond she eventually she gave up and left Sabina with her food. Sabina was recently let out of her straight jacket and according to the doctors, was "improving". If they saw what was going on in her head their diagnosis would quickly change.
Annabelle was in her room using finger paints on a large sheet of paper in the middle of the floor, but she wasn't satisfied. The warmth, rich color, not to mention the taste, just wasn't the same. But, this would have to do for now. No one would let her have the paint that she really wanted.

Kartala happily ate and then curled around the nurse when he was finished.

The nurse began petting his head, hoping his other side wouldn't come back and see to it she was skewered.

Manic was curled up on the floor, facing away from the door. She was rocking slightly. She wanted to do it again. Just one more time. Then she would stop. She promised... "I promise..." she whispered. "I promise, I promise, I promise." She continually repeated this until she was screaming it at the top of her lungs.
Charlie sat in the corner of his cell. He was dying for some human flesh. He was convinced that he couldn't live without it and was constantly telling the nurses this. He always hoped that when they came to try to feed him that he lock them in and kill them slowly before eating them, but he was in a straight jacket. The wishing just made him feel worse.

((I'm going to say it's later now...)) "Okay, Kartala, I've stayed here for quite a long time," the nurse said. "I need to go now."
Meanwhile, other nurses were coming to get the ones who would be attending the social. "Zachy? Are you having a nice day?" one asked, entering his room.
"Hello, Sabina. I have something to talk to you about," another said.
Yet another nurse walked out into the courtyard to get Hilary, or Judith, or Mary. "Judith!" she called, hoping to bring out the best side of the girl.
Max glared as a nurse came in her room. "What do you want?" she asked. "I won't let you scare them away! Don't bother with her, she's just another stupid nurse, a stupid adult! Just like them! They put me here, you know! I don't like them, and I don't like other adults, either! They all scorn me because I can see and talk to the spirits, but they're just jealous!" "Calm down, Max. I'm not going to scare them away. I want to know if you would like to come to a little gathering with the others here. It wouldn't be in here. The spirits don't like it in here, do they?" Max looked suspicious. "Okay, but they don't have to come here, or stay here. They can go wherever they like. Some of them have memories of this place. Not very good memories. They say they saw things. Blood. Some of them like it, but some don't... There was someone who escaped once, wasn't there? He killed people. His name was Madneir." The nurse's eyes widened. "Yes," she whispered. "But that was a very long time ago." "I promise, I won't kill anyone. When I escape, I mean. Because I will. I have to hope. Without hope what is there?" Max smiled. "Okay, would you like to come to the meeting?" "Yes, please. I won't kill any of the other prisoners, either." "You aren't prisoners, you're patients." "Prisoners are kept in cells and not allowed out. Prisoners are kept bound, so they cannot escape. Patients have something wrong with them. There is nothing wrong with me." The nurse nodded her head. "Okay. Come with me, Max." Max walked to the nurse's side. "Kill her," a spirit told Max. We've been over this before, Madneir. That was your mistake. You killed people before the time was right. I won't repeat that mistake, Max thought.
